From reading this thread I have come to realise my lats are weak as s**t we only have 2 machines in my gym and the lat pull down I can't even do 8 reps with just over half the stack I did manage 5 pull ups once haha

I think its out of order sticking dumbbells on a machine, its not safe, I prefer to use overwieght pygmies- but you just need to be careful of trapping their toes!

i dont know cus the gym instructor told me i couldnt go on it with 2 x 100kg dumbells attached to me cus its bad for my bicep when doing it with only one arm !!! Roll-Eyes

Sorry i should have specified - just the one arm using your pinky, no extra weight, whilst playing the accordian and yodelling - pretty standard pull up

are you sure you doing it properly and not swing-rowing the weight?

i work in a gym and i can see the safety reasons for it. if the equipment doesnt go heavy enough maybe its a sign that its a fitness gym not a strenght gym? and that maybe you should try alternate exercises or a different gym? i work in a 'health and well being gym' which i can easily stack most the machines, but i train elsewhere (even tho it would be more convenient for me to train here cus i get it free lol) because it cant cater for me safey. plus i dnt want dicks watching me and trying to copy.

dont mean to be a dick about it but i can apreciate why they dont want you adding s**t to the weight. try correct form, try negatives/ slow reps, try chin ups, try db rows, barbell rows, dont rely on lat pulldown if even with good technique you can do it easily.
