I think about it and am also acting on it. Being cardiovascularly fit benifits my general health in a pile of ways even within a few weeks of starting.

This is a cherpy thread for a Friday Happy all my family die of heart attacks and my grand dad had 5 and 2 strokes but died old, strong heart you could say?? I dont give my health any thought at all, I do look after myself to an extent, I use Eph for training but balance it out by smoking weed after training haha
AvatarVanillaGorilla
Nah, I've quit smoking and look both ways before crossing the road.

I don't worry about reducing my life expectancy as much as potentially reducing my quality of life.

"But i can name quite a few powerlifters who have died relatively young, but most were SHW. Here are just a few from memory:-

- Doyle Kennady, 1978, 1980 IPF SHW World Champ died in his 50s (I think)
- Lee Moran, 1984 IPF SHW World Champ died in his 40s
- Cees de Vreugd who won the 1985 IPF SHW World Champs (before being banned for doping) died at 47.
- OD Wilson 1988 IPF SHW World Champ died at 37
- Steve Zetolofsky - British SHW champ died in his 40s I think.
- Jon Pall Sigmarrson - WSM winner and Nordic powerlifting champion died at 33ish
- Anthony Clark - SHW powerlifter, 800 lb bench presser died at 38
- Nick Winters - SHW bencher, 650 lbs bench died at 29
- Matt Dimmel - SHW powerlifter, Westside lifter died at 33"

thats just the lifters, how many spectators have died of boredom at powerlifting meets???
Avatarbrocerslrd
A guy who used to work with my dad had a bypass op and was told to stop smoking and take more exersize. He did both and while out on his pusg bike getting fitter got squashed by an artic lorry. He was in his early 50's at the time

Sorry but this always makes me laugh

Mate these guys didnt pass away because they didnt spend enough time on the stepper ! These examples are completely unrelated to the thread title?
These grim threads always have a touch of 'Mallone' about them

I am quite a big fella and don't do masses of cardio/strength conditioning, but work is physical and I go walking and hill walking most weekends, so I feel quite fit overall.

I make sure I eat fairly healthy too for the most part. Lots of fruit and veg.
