Squat and Deadlift session 27th April

Squat:

110kg x 7

187.5kg x 6

Deadlift:

220kg x 3

Barbell Shrugs:

240kg x 6

My final squat/deadlift session could not have gone better! Going up 5kg on the squat is something I wouldn't normally do, but the gamble paid off. Every rep apart from the 5th was perfect depth and came up easily, and with plenty of energy to spare. Deadlift was just as easy. It's a weight I've done before, but not since before the British. Nice and easy reps with slightly less energy left but still more than good enough for attempts at bigger and better records

Went about as well as expected, having lost a couple of kilo's of bodyweight over the weekend and spending the whole of yesterday recovering from a hangover! So now definitely no need to diet before the competition.

Openers:

Squat: 205kg
Bench Press: 120kg
Deadlift: 285kg

WDFPF European Championships 7th May

Bodyweight: 99.6kg

Squat:

1. 205kg
2. 220kg (PB)
3. 227.5kg (ER) failed

Bench Press:

1. 120kg
2. 130kg (PB)
3. 135kg failed

Deadlift:

1. 280kg
2. 302.5kg (NR)
3. PASS

Total: 652.5kg (PB)

Numbers don't lie, my best competition yet! 1st in the junior and 3rd in the open, and not by much either! Terry Jex beating me because of bodyweight with the same total, and 4th place 2.5kg behind! My plan of using big jumps to my 2nd attempts worked as I expected, but I still couldn't get a third attempt in. The referees were good, giving signals quickly enough although I got 1 red light on my first bench for some reason, I'm not sure why. There were a lot of other good performances too, and the atmosphere amongst certainly the 100kg class lifters was the best I've seen in a long time!

The PB total was quite important, with 2.5kg and varying bodyweights separating 2nd-4th place in the open, every lift counted!

Thanks mate, yeah 700lbs will be a world junior record and open British record. The world record being held by James Fennelly, it's something I really want to break!

First session back from competition, went fairly light and will build back up in time. Curls are back in now, my bodyweight is steadily increasing and putting more into a session should stop it getting out of control!

Squat felt a bit heavy for a first session back, but all 6 reps were done no problem. Deadlift was a lot easier, but that's because it was quite a way off my top rep weight

Comfortable reps, squat wasn't easy but got all the reps. Deadlift was quite easy though!

Squatting is getting a bit too hard now, getting all 6 reps was a struggle this time, so I'll put the weight down next time. Deadlift was easy though, so that will go up next time
