Right, I'm considering buying a squat suit soon. As it is the first time I would be using one which one would people advise? In WSM we are only supposed to use single ply and it is gonna take some getting used to, would people suggest getting one slightly loose to start and not getting one of the stiffer ones? I squat with a medium stance and a fairly high bar on my back, dunno if this makes any difference but thought I would add the info incase it does

Thanks for the advice in advance.

Titan Super Centurion.

Single ply with your strength and you shouldn't have problems with a tight fit either.

Edit: Wide stance version. Regular stance is just for people that squat shoulder width stance as far as I can tell.

Agreed, get one that's tight already. They aren't that bad to learn and to start with just practice using it as a pair of briefs (straps down).

Single ply Titan's Centurion is probably the best out there.

Ahh have you got the squat in your qualifier big fella ?

From what im told Titan are the king when it comes to single ply squat suits, im a Matal fan and love my king deadlifter/pro squatter Happy i know you get good carryover from your deadlift suit so maybe one of Metals many single ply suits would go down well Confused

Ps i notice how you say were supposed to Tongue ive noticed a few dodgy suits worn on squat at wsm Eek

i had a titan few years ago i found them good but i wasnt a typical shape for the suit so it was a bit loose around the waist and lower back but mega tight on the legs. most power lifters i speak too reckon metal are the way forward. pullam are cheapest for the ipf squatter at 105 quid at min up to a size 60. ive just bought a meatl deadlifter and its a much better fit in the legs waist and hips than the titan , iam having the straps altered tho as there a bit short. i still got 40kg out of the titan squat when i had it thoHappy . fitment for your body shape is prob key. noticed on watchin 2010wsm squat with mischa he takes his tee off and wears a metal

i just looked on the titan site and it has a size guide. does anyone know where the quad measurement would be? would it be around where the bottom of the legs on the suit would fall? i am between sizes if i am measuring right so would you go smaller or bigger?

dunno yet mate, just not leaving anything to chance this year.

yeah i remember in 05 one of the guys wearing double ply briefs and a double ply suit over the top. worst thing is he told me he could only squat 300 in wraps and a belt yet had a 450 squat done in a wpo meet Confused

Does not surprise me mate, from what im told 150kg out of double ply is not far from the norm ! If you buy a metal suit just get the same size as your deadlift suit (what i did) and i think measurements are taken from the biggest part of the quad so closer to the top where it will be tight

I can't think of any top level single ply lifters that use metal?

in my experience even the larger one will be a suprise when you slip it on !!

and when i say slip , i mean spend half an hour losing your fingernails pulling it up 5mm at a time !

they are great though

I think you measure the quad size round the biggest part of your thigh, thats what I did and my super centurion is a great fit.

Mike at Lifting Large is a Titan main dealer, for want of a better expression, and is usually very helpful so it might be worth dropping him an email Terry.

We'll be selling the Super Centurions (as well as the Metal V-Type King Squatters), but are only getting the Super Centurions up to size 54 at least initially.
