It's a Magnusson/Ortmayer deadlift routine mate, just trying to do something that involves a bit more reps, if left to my own devices I end up just doing singles all the time on deads lol.

Haha Grin I know the feeling im doing a peaking block now and I am doing pretty much nothing but singles....and loving it Tongue

Bench Press training today, this is only week 2 of the new routine so things were still pretty easy, as a result I decided to pause all the reps. Just did some light assistance stuff after Bench Press as I am still paying the price for Mondays Squat workout lol.

Things went a little like this ...

Paused Bench Press
1 x 15 50 kgs
1 x 5 80 kgs
1 x 2 100 kgs
1 x 1 120 kgs
1 x 1 142.5 kgs
5 x 3 127.5 kgs

Light Bench Press
1 x 15 100 kgs

Rope Pushdowns
1 x 12 28 kgs
2 x 10 31.5 kgs

Dumbell Lateral Raises
2 x 15 16's kgs

Rear Delt Cable Flyes
2 x 12 12 kgs each side

Ez Bar Curls
2 x 12 50 kgs

New routine is going well on bench, I'm looking forward to things getting a bit heavier next week.

Injured my back on friday deadlifting so I have been resting up till today as it has been very sore. Figured I would try out some benching as the angle my back is in when I arch doesn't seem to cause me any pain. Didn't go overboard today though, things went a little like this ....

Bench Press
1 x 15 50 kgs
1 x 5 80 kgs
1 x 3 100 kgs
1 x 1 120 kgs
1 x 1 140 kgs
1 x 1 150 kgs

5 x 10 100 kgs

Dips
2 x 25 BW
3 x 15 BW

Then did lot's of stretching for my back.

Was a bit tentative with my training today owing to the injury, but after the warm up felt good I fancied trying something a bit heavier. Very pleased with hitting 150 kgs with an injured back because even though it didn't hurt while benching it definately reduced my ability to arch my back and increased the range of motion. Everything else was nice and light assistance stuff selected specifically to avoid any direct strain on the old back, good wee session under the circumstances. Grin

Cheers buddy, I'm getting there lol.

Not sure about next comp at the mo depends how this back injury plays out, but assuming it proves to be nothing major it'll most likely be the Scottish Districts early next year.

I seen on your log you bust your hand, are you still going to do the British Uni's comp?

Haha yeah, really enjoyed it actually, it reminded me of when I used to do 4 x 10 with 100 kgs back in the day and it was challenging, but now I can hit 5 x 10 with an injured back very easily, pleased about that lol.

How's your recovery coming?

I still look much like a well cooked pizza, but the pain in my skin and insides isn't as bad. I'm really wanting to get back to it this Tuesday coming. I'm itching like f**k to squat.

Today was my first attempt at doing any direct back work since injuring my back and needless to say everything was very light to stay on the safe side lol. Things went a little like this ...

Deadlift
2 x 10 70 kgs
1 x 5 100 kgs
1 x 3 120 kgs
1 x 1 150 kgs
1 x 1 180 kgs (Post injury PB and the hardest 180 has ever felt in my life haha)

Chin Ups
5 x 12 BW

Hyper Extensions
5 x 15 BW

Leg Raises
5 x 15 BW

Then lot's of stretching for my back.

No pain in my back from todays session so I am very pleased with that, it's definately going to take a wee bit to heal up properly and get back to full strength. I can see me doing alot of nice light and easy bodyweight based excercises the next while to help it heal up and to be honest I am really enjoying doing them, it makes a nice change.

Cheers buddy.

I'm a towering 5'8" lol! I look tiny in the gym cause most of the guys I train with are at least 6 foot, with the tallest big Toby being 6'5" haha.
