thanks Grin I am really excited about the comp Happy getting a bit nervous too...

I havent posted my latest workouts but here is a brief outline:

Monday I did bench and a few accessory exercises
Wednesday I did squats doubles with 85kg
Thursday I did bench doubles at 55kg with comp commands

Friday 24th aug

Squats
4x60k
2x70k
2x75k
2,2,2,2,2x77.5k felt nice and comfy and back felt strong even though felt tired when I went into the workout

Deadlifts
1x60k
1x90k
1x100k (all with very strict form)
1x110k easy though form not great
1x120k easy
1,1x125k sweet - barely a strain - thinking there may be a max greater than 130kg there....

I have no idea what to do for my comp lifts...

Current maxes are 90 / 60 / 130

Am tempted to think of something:
SQ 80/87.5/95 ot 92.5 *or* 80/90/95 Confused
BP 50/55/60 *or* 55/60/62.5 in the unlikely eventuality that I may make 60k?
DL 110/120/130 *or* 120/130/135 ....
Discuss.

British Unequipped Powerlifting Championships

1st Sept Tyseley

*Awesome* day. Acknowledgments first Grin Thanks JP and .flux for hosting me and driving me there. Thanks Buzz for the awesome video that you are editing as I type. Thanks all three of you for being there and thanks JP for being my competition coach. Also thanks to Jim Blanchflower and Bryn Evans for their fantastic support, advice and company behind the scenes. Thanks to everyone at the competition who supported me and cheered me on. Thanks VF and Sugden for your wonderful support in the build-up to this comp, in all the carrots for today. GrinGrinGrin:

OK so now that the heart-felt acknowledgments are out of the way - the serious biz....

Squats
Warm-up went well in awesome gym but was very very very nervous. Concentrating on keeping my focus and keeping my breathing steady. Was really good keeping my opener nice and light.

80k deep and easy
90k not-so-deep got one red light which is not good because it meant for my third lift the judges were going to be looking even more closely and be even more strict.
92.5k British record went a bit deeper but still got one red light. Was also a personal PB. Was easy - a lot more in there but needd to get deeper.

Bench press
Bench is a bad lift for me despite really liking it. I don't always get into the groove and my form isnt great yet. Lots of work to be done.
Warm-ups were 20, 40, 45, 45

50k opener *easy* but good to set a good example for the judges
57.5k solid and easy though things were a little askew when the lift was mis-called. British record
62.5k - failed. I did fight hard and it was close but form was *really* off. I will nail it *very* soon.

Deadlifts
I love deadlifts - they are less technical and you have the adrenaline from the past events and you can give all your remaining energy for this lift. I was feeling tired as I started warmups but it was a misconception.

115k opener incredibly easy but in the end it was the slowest lift

125k powerful and easy

135k *PB* there was a slight debate between 132.5 and 135k but I am glad I went for 135 because it went up like lightning - I am certain there is far more there Grin British record

Total 285 - British record and my new personal total is 287.5k

Was a fantastic day - quite tired, elated and inspired now.

Video from Buzz Grin

Fantastic lifting! The last deadlift was brilliant, you have plenty more to come there. Congratulations once again, and nice one on wearing the t-shirt!

As a sidenote, Joni looks massive in his t-shirt - like a proper big dirty meathead powerlifter!!! Excellent!
