Status update.

I'm having to take it easy for a couple of weeks in an attempt to let my knee heal up.
I suspect I've torn my meniscus, it's getting better but I don't fancy pushing it until it's near to 100% again.

I'm still training, just doing what I can to work around it (RDL's heavy half squats etc).
I can still bench as normal as that is flying (130kg x 8 all paused on Monday Happy )

Things are looking up a little Happy

I squatted twice last week, session one working up in 5's to 165kg for 5.
Session two was again working in 5's upto a very comfy 185kg for 5

185kg set in session 2 hurt less than the 165kg set in session 1 which hopefully means things are going in the right direction.

I'll look to hit 205kg for 5 on Wednesday and see how we react to that.....

Quick update,

Last week I squatted twice - 185kg x 5 then 205kg x5 in session one then 145kg for 20 in session two (I didn't really have any time to train so just did on big set Grin )

Not that it matters at these kinds of weight, but everything has been beltless.

Bench - I did two sets of 5 (paused) at 140kg pretty easily.

I saw my pyhsio last week as well and there is good news about the knee Happy

My meniscus appears to be intact, the the problem is just a very inflamed bursa behind my patella. This is causing the pain and also making my patella track a little bit funky.

It's getting better and the rehab is working - I'm hoping to be back at 100% in a couple of weeks Cool

Apparently all you need to do to up you Bench game is to f**k your knee up just enough so that you can't squat or deadlift anything worth mentioning, but not so badly that it would effect your bench press,,,,

Last night's session.

TnG bench.

150kg x 5
155kg x 5

Close grip

135 x 5 x 2

Maybe time to retest my max next week....

Update - I squatted on Wednesday but had no time to warmup so my sets went like this (all beltless)

65kg x 10
100kg x 5
140kg x 1

190kg x 5
215kg x 5

Both of the top sets felt poor and I was moving around quite a bit on the last set, just not in the groove at all.

On the plus side my knee wasn't too bad Happy

Update

I squatted again on Saturday and this time actually warmed up for it Grin

Top sets were

185kg x 5
205kg x 5
225kg x 5

All beltless and my knee held up pretty well (it's feeling better each day now).

It can only be another couple of weeks before I have full confidence in it again Cool

I might try for a bench PB tonight.....

You goose your last remaining good knee the week before you're supposed to nail a 290kg PB. So what does Mr Macca do?

1) Sulk like a lady little girl (obvz)
2) Smash back, chest and shoulders whilst rehabbing said knee for a month
3) Cash in on the bench GAINZ

I had a stab at 180kg after this but only got it a couple of inches of my chest (it's going up in 12 weeks! )
