How can you post only your comp total, when the majority on here now are probably strongmen so dont have one!! Although as it states: Powerlifting League The Sugden Barbell Powerlifting League is automatically updated by and open to all members. Simply add your best lifts and weight then the ladder takes care of everything else for you - working out your Wilks co-efficient and movement in the ladder those aspiring to the sport could feel awestuck by seeing huge deads etc, but that would not have passed in a comp and as such killing of thier hopes before they start - jus sayin LOL Im a strongman (well, of a fashion!!), so hitching deadlift rocks!

Thats how it should be in my very humble opinion, RAW!!!!!! I've so far only played at lifting in the gear, and I could stick on another 60k, to make mine look slightly better than the s**t it is now, but there would be no point.

Member 194, 3976 posts | As my first strongman appearance I was totally unsure of what to expect. I had only touched an axle at the farm and dislocated my thumb in the process when the thing bounced as I put it down. Most of these events were a case of “hmm suck it and see” I was however more relaxed that the deadlift was first. Silver Dollar Beastly looking apparatus that I think moved very nicely in general. Clegg and I both opted for a 300kg start in addition to Keyring. We waited around to lift staying warm playing with a barbell out back and watching a few of the other lifts – Wayne was very impressive on this. Some guys hit some good PBs and Iceman shouted his head off for some unbeknown reason but hey, I am the new kid so I just stayed focused on the job. There were a lot of drop outs by the time we hit 300, Clegg up first easy peasy, then myself, again it was piss. Kerian was up next, after the first pull both Clegg and I knew that was all she wrote on the deadlift for him vs us. The round started to speed up as people dropped off, 320 for both of us again easy and Keyring bombed out after trying to shag the bar up. The mighty hobbit took it on in style though – fair play. 340 up next, only myself and Cleggers left in contention really, both pulled it ok. I think Alex got this up too? but there was no more in the tank for him. Clegg had a pop at 360, followed by myself, got it to my knee caps but about an inch short of being able to get my hips through Joint 1st Axle Clean & Press Watched a few guys go with the lighter one, and while I think I could have got them it made more sence to give the big one a bash as one rep shot me infront of 2/3 of the field, so I did, and that was all I got lol The press wasn’t a bother, the clean however was not pretty. Joint 4th? Sandbags My own mistake here, after playing with these once before I thought hell I know how to lift these without realising they had been taped again, this totally threw me on a timed event, got 2 sandbags in a slow ass time and placed very poorly – I was also pissed at myself here for dropping so many points – about 11th Farmers Hold These were going ok, beat a good chunk and felt easy enough, then the bloody popped thumb from a few weeks back came and got me, my left hand gave away without warning and my thumb swelled up a wee bit – decent place I think it was 6th but I should have won that event after doing the same weight for over 90 seconds on slipper handles in the gym – still injuries keep us human eh! Looking at the scoreboard this put me 4th just behind Ben, I had the luxury of being last on the Db press, the moment I saw him take the light bell I knew it was all she wrote after I had already pressed the big one for 2 reps at Wills place after being out on the piss quite heavily the night before. Circus DB My eyes were on the podium, threw up the light one for a triple to warm up before hand. Got 3 reps out, thought my tech was better, then JT told me it was s**t lol and I saw the vid, and it was, just sort of bruted up. I do like this event though and one I will work on to become a strength. Overall came 3rd, well astray of Alex and Clegg but had bloody good fun and got me bitten by the strongman bug in a bad way. Few lessons learnt, some the hard way but glad I clung on for a top 3. Really looking forward to SSM2 now, I’m coming to win that one!
