At a guess I would say (in no particular order):

Stars for the future
Crystal Palace
Team Manchester
Bexley Europa
Bethnal Green (although maybe not now Giles has left)
Empire

Possibly add Kilmarnack WL Club to that list.

I think Bethnal Green is no more unfortunately, didnt the council wrap it up once Giles was ousted?

As for numbers? I would gues that as far as fully paid up BWL members goes then even the clubs quoted aren't massively into double figures. Wild guess though.

What is the reason for the interest VG?

We have started the University of Birmingham Weightlifting Club for this academic year (first time in the university's 114 year history that it has had one) and was interested about other club numbers.

Primarily total club members, and secondarily BWL members, as it looks like we're going to have a fair number of lifters!

I would suspect that you have to unthink the number of weightlifters and rethink 'members'. In the old BAWLA days the gyms with the biggest memberships were pretty much the prisons as the cons were joined up for insurance purposes. I don't think BWL has the same relationship with the prison service anymore?

My guess would be a crossfit type gym.

Nah mate Bethnal Green is still alive and kicking! It's been there for 88 years, no reason for it to go now. There's just a different WL coach now. PL coach is still the same.

Hamza Abiyo - young guy, not a long-established coach or anything but he did win British U23s (125ish/145ish @ 85/94???? really need to check this) a few years ago. He's been training at BG for years now. Everyone's gotta start their coaching career somewhere eh. His programming and coaching seems to be working for me so far anyway Happy
