What kind of freak limbed lifter has a 230kg squat with a 255kg deadlift? if i squatted 230kg id be deadlifting at least 600kg

I squatted 230 and deadlifted 255 in a meet last year lol. Both lifts were a max

Pretty decent comp there Bill. Improvements made since the All England.

Thank you gents. Given the circumstances, it was the best I could do so I'm happy in that regard. Always something to work on. Some photos and videos from my trip so far on my Instagram @corbinpl.

So, just before the closing banquet starts would seem an appropriate time to do a write up of the comp. Got here on Sunday but didn't lift until Friday. Over that time my weight came down a lot more than it should've done. Infact it was the lightest I've ever weighed in at for any meet at 117.84kg. I was lifting at 9am local time in the second flight with some absolute monsters, with the likes of Kelly Branton just centimetres away from setting a new world record total. His 410kg squat is by far the greatest lift I've ever seen in person. Anyway, I set my openers at 217.5/140/237.5.

Squats

Warm up:

70 x 3
120
170
200

First attempt - 217.5kg: Due to the strict judging I absolutely buried this one. Probably the best lift I did all day. 3 whites.

Second attempt - 227.5kg: Sunk this one like I did the first attempt. It felt pretty hard coming up. I've since seen the video of the lift and it didn't look to bad actually. 3 whites.

Third attempt- 235kg: I originally wanted to attempt 237.5kg but the previous lift made me think that it would be just too heavy today. This was an excellent call as it was a huge grind coming back up. 3 whites.

Bench press

Warm up:

Bar x 12
60 x 3
At this point my shoulder started playing up
100
120
135

First attempt - 140kg: This felt pretty hard but it came up ok so could progress as planned. 3 whites.

Second attempt - 147.5kg: Planned second attempt but my god it was hard. Left shoulder played up on this lift so I had to just get it up anyway I could. 3 whites.

Third attempt - 150kg: With a healthy shoulder I reckon I would've been good for a 155kg bench but it wasn't healthy so I just took what I could. Good call for the small weight increase as there was no more there today. 3 whites.

Deadlifts

120
170
220

First attempt - 237.5kg: This didn't feel too bad coming up. 3 whites.

Second attempt- 255kg: This was much harder than I was hoping it would be. It still came up though. 3 whites.

Third attempt - 267.5kg: I picked this weight rather than 272.5kg as I didn't have much energy left and it was the lightest weight that I would've been satisfied with making. In the end I just couldn't muster the strength to finish it off. A real shame as it would've been good to finish with an all time pb deadlift and total. 3 reds.

Total: 640@117.84

8/9

Just leaves me to say congratulations to Phil Brougham who took all 4 gold medals. Pretty sweet to finish with 4 silvers on my part though. Also, a big thanks to Tom for the programming. Had the comp been in England under perfect conditions I reckon I could've done 237.5/155/272.5 but I didn't have that luxury. Thanks to the coaches for helping in the warm up room. I'm now going to enjoy being in my luxury apartment until tomorrow as I then head to Banff at midnight on Monday on a 16 hour coach journey to go skiing and staying in a party hostel which should be a good laugh.

SLDL

152.5
182.5
Belt on
207.5 x 5
207.5 x 5

Squats and bench both fine. On SLDL's I still felt as though I was half asleep when doing them. The two top sets weren't too bad considering how I was feeling. Looking good for me in the deadlift at the commonwealths though seeing as my all time pb for a set of 5 on SLDL's is 210kg.

Squats felt good tonight considering that they were equal pb's. Still undecided on my opener for the comp, going to be 215-220kg. Bench felt good this evening. The way 150kg came up, suggests that I should aim for 155kg at the comp in 9 days time.

Squats and bench ok today. Deficit deadlifts were a bit harder but still not quite 100% effort. I reckon as maxes, I would be able to add 10kg to my 1 rep and 3 rep pb's respectively.

Squats felt good today. Nice to get a high bar rep pb and the single was alright as well. Bench went a bit tits up today. I was meant to double 147.5kg but the first rep was very slow so tried to touch and go the second but it wasn't there today. Sets of 5 were hard. 17" deadlifts were a real struggle today. Had to take a bit of time inbetween each rep to make sure I made them all.

Squats felt pretty strong today which is positive. Bench also strong today. Pretty sure that I'm going to open on 142.5kg now. By the time I got to block pulls, I was pretty fatigued but managed to struggle up the reps. Just 2 weeks until I compete now.
