Bench only session

Warm up
x10 with bar
x5 at 30kg
x3 at 40kg

Actual work
x3 at 50kg
x1 at 60kg
x1 at 70kg
x1 at 80kg
x1 at 90kg --> fail at mid section
x3 at 65kg
x3 at 65kg
x1 at 90kg --> got it touch and go
x1 at 85kg --> equal PB

Accessory work:
wide grip flat bench - flared elbow
x5 at 60kg
x5 at 60kg
x3 at 60kg

skull crushers with dumbell
x10 at 18kg
x10 at 20kg
x8 at 22kg --> kept elbows in this time (ok ok Bim pushed on them towards the end)

push up - narrow stance + hands level with chest (bench grip like if you'd prefer)
x5
x5 with 5kg plate on shoulders
x5 with 10kg plate on shoulders ---> ass coming up first so dropped down weight
x5 with 5kg plate on shoulders


General feeling:
Nice session and improvement on push ups. Defo triceps dominant and it looks like wraps are helping (surely more in my head than with the bar).

The failed x1 at 90kg reinforce the weakness in the chest that I will have to address later.

All in all enjoyable session.

General feeling:
The 155kg squats felt heavy tonight but happy that I got 3x3. Thursday evenings are always a bit harder, maybe because I eat before the gym.

Bench is going nice and the 1x80kg felt easy enough. The 5x65kg were there to purely work on form --> set up + where to touch + drive.

Liking bench a lot at the moment.

General feeling:
deadlift at 210g felt hard but alright so decided to go for a PB. 215kg was defo hard but went up!
Getting my arse lower and feeling good --> way to go!

Bench still feeling great and only tried 90kg for fun --> need to work on bloody chest and actually need to do it FFS!

x4 at 155kg --> too much back into last rep (Bim's eagle eye)
x4 at 155kg --> third one backy again so tried to correct last rep

Warm up for deadlift
x5 at 60kg

x1 at 140kg
x1 at 160kg
x1 at 180kg
x1 at 190kg
x1 at 200kg
x5 at 160kg setting off every 30sec

General feeling:
Very quick session without any assistance work for deads --> shame a bit.

Happy with the thre sets of 4 on squats --> have to keep an eye on those hips shooting up.

Happy to be lifting 200kg regularly on deads and enjoying setting off every 30 secs --> will have a look into this direction re future sessions.


Weight is up this week by a pound... Angry

General feeling:
Happy with this session all around for several reasons:
* got a PB
* close grip work is feeling great
* finally addressing weakness on chest and found that incline machine: reps felt hard and arms were lifting unevenly but it targeted the lazy bits!

Did not come prepared to this session and head was elsewhere --> not a good feeling.
Bench felt awkward due to Olympic bar (narrow and spinny).

Basically tonight I simply moved stuff around: having no plan when going to the gym is like not hitting depth on a squat; tonight I achieved no lift.

Plus I ate crap for dinner!

On the plus side, someone did this to Bim and I and that made me laugh:
