Did some massage with a tennis ball on my glutes and hamstrings yesterday. And today was the first time in about three/four weeks that I woke up without a stiff and sore back and glutes. I think I'm on to something here so will keep it up and stay away from squats and DL's until the weekend. Hopefully by then my back and glutes will be back to normal and I can start working some BLDL's again.

I might just make a vid of how I use the Tennisball for self massage cause for me it worked close to a miracle and was a last resort since I hate massage. I especially found an awsome way of getting to the hamstrings well, which later on turned out to be the best way to get to some parts of the glutes as well.

Tried to do some kneeling rollouts to warm up for a few low rep half ROM rollouts from the feet. But my abs are still not recovered since last Wednesdays rollouts. I can't believe it, it's the longest recovery I've ever experienced in any muscle. Damn you, Rollouts! Just see who has the last laugh!

Saturday

Squats
20kg x10
50kg x8
80kg x6
100kg x4
120kg x2
140kg x1
150kg x1
165kg xF, 1(assisted),F

Only wanted to get the 165kg and get it on vid as well. First attempt I got stuck at parallel just as I got out of the hole. Said that it would be it and no PB today. Ended up talking to someone and then I changed my mind and put the weight back and set up for another last attempt. A different bar as well and this bar feels nicer for some reason, maybe because it isn't bent and that the sleeves rotate.
Felt awesome, good drive out of the hole and then I see in the mirror a guy that I know but who has never seen me squat before rush up behind me to assist and I scream/grunt NOOOO!!! (all seems to go in slomo at that moment)... Got quite pissed off as I felt that there I got a PB and you just ruined it for me. Then I remembered that he in fact had all the best intentions as he thought I might hurt myself etc so I felt stupid for making such a bitg deal of it but I was too psyched up to think PC.

Anyway, after watching the vid I'm not sure if I'm at parallel anyway, definitely not under parallel. I'll just have to give it a go next week again and try and get it from a better angle to determine depth. Anyway, you'll see it as soon as I uploaded it to youtube.

Since the second attempt felt so good I thought that if I get it right again I'll get it and this time without worrying about someone running to my rescue. Got stuck like in the first rep and after that I was pretty spent and needed to get going to my nieces birthday.

that was funny how he bolted to help you out, rather than in any decent gym he would have bolted to stand behind you to shout in your ear to lift that f**king weight and put some life in it! Grin

Why did you go straight to 165 if your pb is 150? first 10kg increment from 140 and then 15 to a big pb?

Joni, I got 160kg a week and half ago and that one felt so good I was sure I have 165kg in me as well. But this time I wanted to get it on video as well. The jump from last w/u single at 150kg to 165kg top single might have been a bit too big. Maybe I should have jumped 140kg &rt; 155kg &rt; 165kg instead.

Will try it again on Tuesday before I do my planned lifts. I just need to work on my confidence of getting the stretch in the bottom. I hesitated too much yesterday. In the two singles where I got stuck I seemed to try and figure out if I got forward lean or not. I need to work more on my ques as well as get better at finding my weight over my heels in my WL shoes.

Thanks, Mishima!

I'm 170cm (5'7).

And in regards to the guy who ran to the rescue, he wasn't there when I did my first single that I dumped at the rack so he thought that if I missed the lift I was in serious risk of hurting myself. He even told me off for not lifting with someone spotting me. It was a bit awkward cause he got a bit offended that I got miffed that he helped me with the lift, and I don't want to come aross like a jerk either.

Apparently I took longer than 3s to get up so that seemed to be his call to help out (not sure if he meant that I took longer than 3s to complete the lift or that I was stuck for more than 3s at the bottom).

I was a bit surprised as he's apparently got PL'ing friends. And afterwards I was offended that he would think that I would squat with limit weight without security. Anyway...

Monday

Bench
20kg x20
40kg x10
60kg x6
75kg x6,6,6,6,6
60kg x16
Felt pretty good, but around set 3 I wasn't sure if I had done three or four sets. I was getting dizzy after every single set.

CGBP
60kg x7
Don't like the way the CGBP feels in my shoulders. Too much grinding going on that just feels wrong.

Incline CGBP
50kg x8,10,10
Incline CGBP definitely feels better in the shoulders. Will do them this way instead and give up on flat CGBP's.

From floor BoR
60kg x5
80kg x5,5,5,5,5
60kg x20
Needed straps for the 80kg BoR's. Also a wide grip, same as my bench actually feels best.

Dips
BW x15,12,12

s/s 1: High Pulley Face Pulls
21.25kg x20,20,20

s/s 1: Tri Push downs
31.25kg x15,12,12

Felt good, but in the end my whole upper body felt so damn tight. Shoulders and elbows felt like they were wrapped up. Need to make sure to keep stretching tomorrow. Hope my biceps don't start acting up again with the squats.

It happens. When he told you off did you point to the pins and ask him if he knew what they were for Tongue !

You have that problem too...

if thats the same kind of shooulder/bicep tendon inflexibility than many people have, 20 reppers are probably really bad for it Grin

Thats why the westsiders say they never go above doubles with squats because even the slightest barbell movement will wreck havoc on their tendons.

Yeah, but as with most people half squatting he's probably never seen anyone flexible enough to off load on the "curlz rack".

Yeah, but my pain is normally deep in the bicep and just above the elbow joint so it's either a fore arm/brachialis or biceps issue. Get it worst on limit weights rather than 20-reppers. Felt it a bit today but a little higher, and more in the middle of the biceps muscle belly, than normal. Nothing bad though and feels just fine now a couple of hours later.
