Sunday

DL
70kg x10
110kg x4
150kg x2
190kg x1
Felt way too heavy today for some reason as I went quite hard last week I decided to leave it for today and feel out sumo dl's instead to see where I'm at with them now after not doing them for about 8 months.

Sumo DL
110kg x4
130kg x4
150kg x2
170kg x2,2,2
Felt pretty good but had the wrong shoes, my WL shoes. Will start bringing along my chucks on DL days. Felt these a lot in my quads though, but that might be a good thing as I'm not doing any back squats at the moment and my back/shoulders are the limiters. Maybe I should get a trap bar.....

Felt a bit better today... Missed the 5th rep in second set with 87.5kg as I pressed it up towards my face too quickly and found that my shoulders would have taken a big beating if I tried to grind it out. Had to take it on the belly as I had no rack or spotter so got a bit of abs work done as a bonus.

Not sure where that came from. The 140kg was pretty ugly as I ended up stiocking my bum out a bit too much and got a lot of the weight in my hands. But I'll take it!

DL's today left over from last week and the light benching from this deload week.

Monday

DL
60kg x10
100kg x4
140kg x4
180kg x1
200kg x1
215kg x1,P  PB!
180kg x5,3
Well, even though my target was to get up to a 210kg DL and after that start bringing up my Sumo DL I've ended up passing my best Sumo DL which was 212.5kg. And todays lift was a 5kg PB which is a bit more than I usually go for. The second attempt was just a partial an inch or two off the ground but I ended up behind the bar too much so aborted it. My hands felt like they were getting shredded as the bar had very sharp knurling. Think I'm going to try and avoid that bar in the future for heavy DL's.

Thanks! Starting Sumo's now and hopefully they'll end up 10-15kg over my Conv. DL again. I'm quite sceptical though, but it's worth a shot. Only problem is that I really like the way the Conventional DL's feel like now.

Ok, took some videos yesterday.

Cycle 7 - week 4 deload

Sunday

Front squats
60kg x5
80kg x1
100kg x1
120kg x1
130kg x1

Bent over Rows
60kg x5
80kg x5
100kg x5

Power shrugs
100kg x5
150kg x5,8,5
These felt like s**t. Couldn't get any smooth pull from the knees and ended up jerking and pulling with the hands before I reached full extension so I lost balance forward. Banged up my thighs quite a bit as the bar dropped uncontrolled all the time. Second set started feeling more normal, but still a bit short pull. Forgot to look up as I was looking in the mirror instead #-o

Sumo DL's
150kg x1,1
160kg x1
180kg x1
Felt so, so. Hips felt quite high but look lower and closer to the bar than I thought it would look like.

Is that your own personal gym Wink, I see no one else there.

I see they are splitting SE and SC up in 2010

Cheers, Paul!

I work as a PT there and have the keys to the place, why I chose to do the filming when it was closed Wink

Didn't know they wre splitting the divisionals up, will have to look for the dates. It's a shame because it's been a good crowd the last two years when they did the SE and SC together.

Cycle 8 - week 1

Tuesday

Bench paused

40kg x10
60kg x5
80kg x3
100kg x1,1,1,1,1
90kg x4,4,(5,5,3)* *touch'n'go
Felt heavy today but on the 3rd single I got in to a bit better groove so added another two singles. Upped the lighter sets to 90kg which felt pretty ok. I just got the forth rep on second set so decided to just use touch'n'go for the next sets.

DB Bench
26kg x12,10,8
Was well wiped out after the bb bench so had to go light here and tried to just get as many reps as possible and get a good stretch at the bottom.

I'm getting too heavy for these ones now. Weighed myself after workout and scales showed 82.5kg. And I haven't even gotten started on the christmas food yet.

BB Curls

Dips

These felt good, no pain in shoulder. Good sign!

Missed my FS day this week or rather had to push it up until today for various reasons. Best one being that I might have a new job lined up in Feb. Will keep doing the PT in the evenings and Sundays but hope to start IT support 3 days a week with intensions for it to become a full time job.

Leaving for holidays on Friday as well so not sure what gyms I will have available for two weeks up to the 1st Jan. So will probably cram in as many workouts as possible in the 5 days I have left until I leave. I'm thinking of doing some benching tomorrow and DL's on Monday, benching again Tuesday, FS's on Wed and a final benching session on Thurday. intentional overload to capitalise on the extra calories that will be consumed and extra rest once on holiday.

Cycle 8 - week 1

Saturday

Front squat
60kg x5
80kg x1
100kg x1
120kg x1
130kg x1,1,1,1,1
110kg x4*,5*,5 (* used straps to hold on to instead of hands on bar)
Didn't fel the strongest today so settled on two extra reps with 130kg and a bit heavier sets of 5's. First two sets with 110kg I used my straps to hold on to instead of holding on to the bar to give my wrists and elbows a break. They worked surprisingly well for crisp reps but not so good for grinding reps. Almost lost the bar forward on teh 5th rep in the second set why I decided to do the last set with hands on bar. Think I managed a bit higher elbow position with the straps which really got the upper back working hard, especially the muscles around shoulder blades, similar feeling as the scaptions. So I'm guessing this exercise is a good re-hab for my winging scapulas syndrome.

Power shrugs
150kg x8,8,8
Good form today as I managed to pull back rather than trying to pull straight up. Much better extension and on the third set I started to be able to get more of an elbow bend by bringing elbows out and up. This sure hit the traps better as well so will try and continue doing it this way.

Snatch high pulls
60kg x8
80kg x8,8,8
Think my lower back started getting tired here. Did all reps from dead stop. Reps were more limited by the pain in my thighs caused by teh bar touch when fully extending.

Seated wide parallell grip row
70kg x12,12,12

Did some 20+ rep sets on the chest press machine and on teh lateral raise machine for teh pump.

As next week will be a short one due to me going away on holiday I'm doing a bit of a workout blitz in the days I have left. So instead of DL's today I did tomorrows heavy bench session and will do DL's tomorrow, Light bench on Tuesday, Dl's on Wednesday and some light Front squats and

Sunday

MP
40kg x5
50kg x3
Wanted to check on if my shoulder is good enough to start OH pressing again. Not really there yet. No specific pain but I could feel tightness building up in the injury site so figure I have to rest it a while longer.

Bench
40kg x10
60kg x5
80kg x2
90kg x1
100kg x1
105kg x1
107.5kg x1 PB!
110kg x1 PB!
90kg x6,6,5
Had planned on just going for 90kg for reps today as I didn't expect to feel very strong after yesterdays session. Boy, was I wrong. After 105kg just flew up I decided to get the Blackberry out and try out the vidoe function on it. 107.5kg which I'm 99% sure is a PB, as I can't remember if i actually got it in the spring or if 105kg was the heaviest etc. Anyway, it was fast enough for me to dare a bigger one. Feels awesome to finally have gotten 110kg, and man did I have to fight hard for it. But then I wasn't very keen on rolling it down my belly if I missed it, so the insentive was big.

DB Bench
35kg x8,8,7,5

Tri extensions
35kg x16
28kg x20
28kg x14 + 21kg x15

Didn't feel strong at all in the DL's today. Still pretty sore from Sunday's bench workout. Upper back seemed tired today as well as gluetes as I had trouble locking out. 190kg felt way heavy so settled on trying 200kg for three singles. First one was s**t, ended up almost stifflegging it and bar swung out from knees. After that it was slightly better. Finished off with a proper back off rep out set, which I think I should do a bit more often. Got them all on video as well
