If someone would copy and paste my write up from my journal it would be greatly appreciated . MY keypad is f**ked.

Highlights of today were...

Bryce's arm over arm and stone run..WTF!

Vausie's balls of steel going heavy on everything and nailing the farmers.

Steve 'The Mini Viking' going through the pain barrier on everything.

Pagan's saga:

PAGAN said:DRAGONS IV

When I set off from mine this morning I was close to 91k so I didn't have the heater on full knacker in the car and opened the window a few times to as I didn;t want to come in at a drained 88k like I did at ESM. Not the best idea I've ever f**king had as I was still best part of a kilo over when I got to OSG.Putting a dripping wet sauna suit back on feeling the cool embrace of your own cold sweat is really not one of life's little pleasures.Did more f**king cardio this morning than I've done in the last year.

MAX DEADLIFT

Felt ok by the time we started warming up and decided to open at 250k.While I still didn't know what making weight had done to me I was of the opinion that if I couldn't pull this I might as well go home. The 250k went up nicely and I opted for 270k next. This went up but 271k wouldn't have so I didn't take a third lift.

270k - Joint 2nd with Shane and Liam

LOADING MEDLEY

Usually this sort of s**t is my bread and butter but recently Liam and Plewsy had been kicking my arse in training so I was a little apprehensive. Also my conditioning is erm less than perfect these days so I could see this being a struggle.I was up against Shane so I knew if I beat him I'd be very near the top. Shane was telling me he would be doing press ups inbetween objects while he waited for me so when I finished before him I did a couple of press ups for effect Wink

28.44 seconds - 1st place by over 12 seconds - my best event of the day.

LOG

Back down to earth! Have nailed 110k loads of times in training recently but not a kilo more and while I would have loved to have done it today the empty log felt heavy as f**k warming up so as is traditional I fannied out and went for the light option of 85k. I got to go last of everyone doing 85k and my target was 7 reps by Steve Baker. I strict pressed the 1st rep, one motioned the next three and failed the 5th. I sorted myself out and managed another 3 push press reps to tie with Steve on 7.If I'd gone 110k and got 1 rep it would have only have got me another 1/2 points so I'd made a wise decision considering a fail at 110k would have lost me about 8 points.

7 Reps @85k - joint 8th

130K FARMERS

These had gone well in training but I knew several other people had the ability to beat me here.My run went well without any drops. Tommy Yule did me by 0.3 of a second...can you tell I'm flagging her with the write up, I'm trying to get f**king drunk and typing is killing my can speed...

130kx30m - 20.49 seconds - 2nd place

ARM Over Arm

Boar has been saying this was my event and it was! Yay Grin

22.7 seconds - 1'st by about 4 seconds from Bryce the obvious juicer.

STONES

When I was told I was second by half a point to Shane going into this I knew it would be either the stuff of dreams or the stuff of nightmares. Everyone was telling me I would smash it apart from Shane who was adamant he was going to defend his title by beating me at 'my event'. Turns out Shane was nearly right! We were neck to neck on the 4th stone but I think I got it up first, I then quickly re-tackied and went for the 160k stone. It went up without much drama but when I turned to see how Shane was doing he was celebrating the win! I assumed he had beaten me but people around me were telling me no I'd pipped him.

The official timers had me winning by point f**k all of a second but everyone had a different opinion on who had actually won.Having seen the vid I'm happy that there is no way human reactions on a stop watch would be good enough to seperate us.

At this point there was much discussion all around on what to do,Mr Clegg finally decided that he wouldn't be able to enjoy his cans tonight if he had to decide between us.

Overall joint 1st!!!

My first ever strongman comp was Dragons I and I always said if I could win one comp it would be Dragons. Well today I did just f**king that! Sharing the title with Shane doesn't lessen the achievement one little bit, in my eyes it makes it even more special because Shane is a world class strongman and I'm just a knackerd old pisshead.

I hope Shane is as happy as me with today's result and fair play to him for his attitude at the end as it was initially better than mine.

I'd like to thank Mark Clegg for putting on my favourite comp again , being a true gentleman and going above and beyond yet again for this sport.

I've said I'm going up to 105k next year todays comp has made me question this decision as I f**king love Dragons comps and want to do number five Wink

Well done to all!

Sad for main man Trav missing podium though.

superb stuff !!

as you know i was confused/in 2 minds about the result ...my first thought would be to accept the times by the refs ...thats what they are there for afterall , i mean when you lost by .3 of a second on the farmers...that could have been given the same treatment via video replay , but you accepted what the refs had timed ...

it does seem very tricky when the crowd are going half n half and the video is inconclusive ... which is why i would go with the finger pokey pokey stopwatch of the refs coz it aint the crowd that is in charge , so on balance i would think if anyone should have won outright its you BUT i understand why what was done , was done ...coz it was so very very close and strongmen love each other !

well done PAGAN DRAGON !!

Had a fantastic time today. Massive thanks to mark and the OSG crew. Sterling work from ben on the mic and john m on scoring too. Really glad to finally have been a part of the dragons experience. Congrats to pagan and Shane, both worthy holders of he title.

I was half considering that this might be my last strongman outing but I think it might have restored a bit of fire in my belly for a while longer.

DRAGONS 4 - THE LAST RIDE lol

Been competing in this crazy sport for a long time now, and had millions of ups and downs! I choose this comp to be my final outing soley because Mark clegg has been continously supportive and encouraging thoroughout the last few years. Also due to him and Ben France puting on the most awesome comps !

Been stuggling for the last 4 years with ankylosing spondylitis, reactive arthritis and 4 discs that are in degeneration ( spinal surgery being the only answer ). So called it a day for my health and family.

Did want to go out with a bang with some PB's, but due to a bit of unluckiness i injuried my collar bone area the week before the dragons, unfortunate but s**t happens ! lool

this how things played out...........

MAX DEADLIFT - 220kg ( 1 deadlift only )

warmed up to a 230kg pull and struggled to lock it out, fast off the floor but the injury surfaced and it freakin hurt. I did op for 240kg opener but dropped it to 220kg!
I'd worked my training up to a 280kg PB too, pulled 260kg x 2 and 270kg a couple of weeks before too ! lol

LOADING MEDLEY All complete

Relied on my good arm to do most of the heavy lifting and managed all barrells, though struggled with cylinder a little !

LOG -85kg x 7 reps

warmed up with the 60kg log and struggled the lockout, collar area hurting like a mofo. So managed to control 3 reps out with the 85kg, then out of nowhere i got angry with the pain and pumped out 4 near 1 motions for 7 reps WTF ?????

130K FARMERS x 10m ish

tried picking up the 110kg for a warm up and being in the same event i hurt myself on initial , it pulled down on my collar area and it killed !
went for broke and thought F it, go for the 130kg and go out like a man lol !
Managed to hold through the pain and then collapsed after 10m to score, i couldnt move my left arm and to be honest i nearly cried........very painful !

ARM Over Arm - 37 secs

Tried a different technique than the others guys did, it went wrong though and then lost lots of time, had to resort back to the other tech loool !worth a try !

STONES x 4

Got put up against the mighty General in this event, he led for the first 3 stones but manage to pip him on the fourth ! nice

OFFICALLY HAPPY AND RETIRED

Thanks for you luv and support xxx Mini Viking
