Those rehands are 60 fecking quid! A good meal for 7mm jobbies 3-5 quid.

The SS 7mm ones have broken on me twice, I'm hoping that the rehband ones are better as they are strapped so more flexibility on size.

Rehbands are well worth it. No point scrimping when it comes to these things.

Will try some of these, I havnt had an MRI, would it be worth pushing for one? Also im 25 so not sure what that would mean with regards to wear and tear expected?

I'm 27, but I injured my knee when I was 19. Pretty sure I tore it at this time, and the MRI confirmed there was a tear. Tell them if/when you definitely felt something go, and that the pain is now affecting your life (walking to/from work, general daily activities - getting out of a chair and walking up and down stairs being two perfect examples).

An MRI would show if anything is wrong for sure.

Yes, push for an MRI, definately. You are unlikely to get this without being refered to a specailist however, and dpending on their diagnosis they may decide on an arthroscopy, in which case they would most likely fix any damage then.

They key here is getting to see someone who knows about knees, that may not necessarily be your physio

Them 7mm jobbies along with the 5mm and 3mm jobbies are a total waste of time and money IMO, they lull you into a false sence of seurety thinking they are protecting your knees. All they do is make your knee area sweat, proper warm ups and wearing a good quality set of knee wraps is the only way to protect your knees properly especially over a period of time.
It makes my mind boggle at the amount of yong people that have knee problems from not using wraps to squat with.

What are peoples views on knee wraps? I've read Loz saying its a must.
There's a little bit of research suggesting the change in technique might not be good for the knee (Lake, 2012) and the material behind the knee might cause it to unhinge (Harman & Fryman 1990; Totten 1990). Perhaps the significance of those issues are reduced in comparison to other ones when squatting &rt;300?

Knee sleeves have to be better than nothing at all, surely?
If only you'd slapped me with a pair of knee wraps every time I squatted without them over the past 9 years.

If you want sweaty knees and want to wear something that harbours lots of nasty microscopic creatures munching on your dried up sweat then yes.
The misconception that they give any support is laughable, and also keeping the knee in line makes me fall off my chair. They do neither.
I supose on the warming they do only as your knee in surrounded in a tightly fitting material that doesnt allow any air to pass between itself and the skin and its waterproof, and stops any moisture from escaping.
However the warming properties do falsely omit yoursellf to think that your knees are ready to undrgo a workout of any kind.
Nothing is as good as warming up properly for squats and wear knee wraps.
I do squat without knee wraps and im 45 and ill make sure im not going to f**k my knees wearing knee sleeves.

Didn't you say that people SHOULD squat with wraps?

How long have you been squatting for?

I used to make sure that I warm up properly - what do you think makes the two of us different - you're able to squat a lot more than I used to (best ever was 240kg with belt and wraps at 85kg BW and 225kg belt only), but your knees seem healthy. I'd been squatting for 8-9 years and wore them out. Is this down in part to getting the sh1tty end of the straw, or does that not exist and it's purely down to not squatting properly?

Just an update, saw the physio this week. Spent about an hour with me asked a load of questions which all seemed fairly relevant. Then checked me over quite thoroughly. Tracking is supposedly fine and knees are healthy. Been told that I have tight hamstrings and very tight quads. Been given stretching to do for now and a follow up in 2 weeks. Was also told that being flat footed could possibly aggravate it although not going down that route yet. All in all I was quite impressed with the amount of time and attention I got for the nhs, that said I have no idea whether what she said was correct or not so if anyone wants to chip in with their opinions I would be interested. Other than that time will tell

I think being flat footed, and wearing footwear which makes this comfortable rather than sorting the issue, is one of the causes of my knee pain
