Late in the day, but I've just spotted this thread.

I've never been in a competition, but I believe that my following current lifts would pass muster in a competition:

Squat 192.5
Bench 142.5
Deadlift 200

(All raw)

In addition,I can clean and military press 100kg.

I can do all these except the military press fairly comfortably, so my projected current maxes are a bit higher. As I'm my first few months of dedicated powerlifting (though I've been lifting in some form for 30 years), I'm hoping I can make good progress.

My goals are:

1. Squat 227.5
2. Bench 165
3. Deadlift 230
4. Military Press 110
5. Attend some competitions, so I can see what it's all about

I have deadlifted 240 with straps, so it's a question of whether I can improve my grip sufficiently.

Nah, I will be doing 2 more cycles this year, I expect to be at least 85kg if I can get 130 overhead.

Neil's reminded me that I should add a deadlift goal now that I've been doing it for a full three weeks! Well my goal is 185, but not injuring myself in the process, so it may be a longer term goal. But I will compete in the qualifier in May come what may, just to get the competitive experience.

. Stay injury free and healthy for a really good season in 2009 as I go up an age group to M7/M4
. BENCH 100 Touch and go
. BENCH 100 Pause/Comp
. DEADLIFT 140
.Retain masters titles in S/W bench and S/W shot put.
. Break S/W Bench Record (bawla)to match S/W record in shot
.Improve squat following injury...say..120 for now
.Count to 10 before I post sometimes!
.All lifts raw and I believe possible if I work at it and stay healthy

I can see where you're coming from. Its taken me 22 years to get from 300 to 400lb. A 2.5K increase is in excess of 1 years improvement for me at that rate of progress. On this occasion I can only apologise for being realistic

Mate if you could write this book i'm thinking of, maybe you wouldnt get any wealthier and maybe it would be s**te, but i would read it in one setting nonetheless.
