We're trying to arrange a red arrow fly past to kick off the meet. Turnermator says he has a license.

1 st bench session with my new belt and it felt great, really supports the back, miles better than my old argos belt! wanted 90k 3x3 but on reflection that was a bit optimistic since this was only my second proper bench session since July! Not sure about the wrist supports they just seemed to make my hands go numb ,do you wrap them round the bottom of the hand or just the wrist?

bench press 90k 3/2/2
close grip 70k 5/5/5

dumbell curl 20k 10/10/10
face pulls 10/10/10
cubans 2.5k 10/10/10

nice benching ED the wrist wraps i dont put them on often but i wrap them round the wrist only and not to tight,i use them only if i have a niggle in my wrist,or a max effort bench thats only cause i think they might help it could be just in my mind that i need them at allRoll-Eyes

after challenging Neil to a race to a 220 deadlift I found I had loads of motivation for todays session felt really up for it and really enjoyed it! had a go at power cleans for the first time partly because i remember somone telling me they were great for building up explosive power, but mostly because going lemon fresh seems to be the trendy thing to do at the moment and i'm a sheep and i cant help but follow trends!
glad i did because I really enjoyed them!

Deadlift 140k/5 150/4 160/3 the plan was to pyramid back down here but I felt good and i want to beat Neil so I went heavier 170/3 180/2 failed 3rd about 2 mm off the floor!

front squat 80k 5/5/5

power clean 60k/5 70k/5 80k/1 90k/1 100k fail 100k fail

honestly think the 100k fail was more of a mental thing and I'd almost talked myself out of it before I even started the lift ,should get it next week and will try and video it as i dont really know if I'm doing them right!

Is it just me or does anyone else find that a lever belt bruises they're ribs? Mine are f**king killing and Ive only worn it 3 times!

Nice lifting Ed mate, 90 is very nice for first time power cleaning. Strength looks like its coming back fast after the injury.

RE Lever belts, quite a few people have mentioned that. Hayden even got a load of scar tissue around his hip from his one!! I have a double prong myself doesn't seem to dig in too much, certainly never bruised. I'm sure yours will be alright once you wear it in a bit more, unless the old power belly is going to get much bigger in near future Grin

Nice session Ed,
I found that my lever belt was painfull for a couple of weeks before I got used to it. Stick with it, I reckon the lever belt is the 2nd best thing since steak pie.
AvatarNeil
Good stuff Ed, I'd better look into doing some deadlifting too then! And that's the first time you've ever done PCs? Good going!

I'm from the old school (surprise, surprise) that says you only need a belt when benching to keep your shirt locked in. And if you're not wearing a shirt yet... Also, unless you have a wrist problem, I wouldn't bother with wrist wraps when training unless you feel pressure on the wrists. I do my raw comps (up to 160) with no belt or wraps, and I've got little girls' wrists! Good power cleans, btw.
AvatarEDCLARKE
they seem to have helped everything except my squat!
AvatarRick
I would agree that there's little point using wrist wraps unless you're feeling a strain on your wrists. If you wrap them and leave them on you *will* get numb, though - I just wrap mine for each set I use them on, and yes you want them on the bottom of the hand: http://www.elitefts.com/documents/wrists.htm
