Shaun | 3000lb world record total broken - yet no-one seems to give a damn? | 22-08-2011 @ 22:43
Member 1668, 1499 posts SQ 186, BP 102, DL 211499.0 kgs @ 93kgs UnEq | Donnie Thompson did 1265/950/785lb yesterday to total a historic 3000lbs. Yet no-one really seems to give a damn. And me neither, to be honest. Are so many people just completely fed up of what is coming out of some American multi-ply federations that they no longer give the slightest bit of a damn any more? Are people so fed up of the ridiculousness of benching more than you deadlift that they've stopped giving a s**t? And yet, you also guessed it: the squat was high enough such that it was in the stratosphere. What a complete farce. No wonder only a few fat people with shaven heads in America seem to care.

My opinions have run their course Member 694, 3112 posts | Seeing some blob waddle up to a monolift and JUST break parallel while wrapped in enough supportive equipment to keep Adele's tits above her belly is not my cup of tea, so no not really impressed or bothered by it

understanding of the sport, little he has. Member 798, 9943 posts SQ 260, BP 150, DL 272.5682.5 kgs @ 82.5kgs UnEq | His bench and deadlift may well have been superb, but after watching that half squat I'm not inclined to find out. At least one of the judges can sleep soundly - he got a 2-1 decision apparently....

sumo ?? no ! no ! Member 1399, 557 posts | tz1127 said: a near 800lb deadlift is piss poor? Relative to his other numbers? I'm not going to take a s**t on his lifting but it's a bit of a shame when you can squat not far from double what you deadlift.

Hyper obese Pete Member 70, 17903 posts SQ 322.5, BP 205, DL 300827.5 kgs @ 133kgs Eq | I take my hat off to the bloke. Granted he is doing something that I would not care to do myself, but he is playing by the rules of his fed, and using that amount of equipment must be a feat in itself. Cut it where you will he is a very strong man. I would have thought the people on these boards would have appreciated that. Just because you don't like something doesn't make it wrong, and it doesn't make it amy the less impressive.

a dork Member 1023, 846 posts | Are people fed up with the rediculous lifts? The answer is yes! I know with the American lifters they are getting more and more into raw lifting. In fact an American just hit a 905lb raw squat this weekend. His Name is Chad Smith, he wrote the Juggernaught Training Method book.

Hyper obese Pete Member 70, 17903 posts SQ 322.5, BP 205, DL 300827.5 kgs @ 133kgs Eq | The Americans generally have a much more sensible definition of "raw" than we do

I can't see how much more we can use over here to make us less sensible than they when it comes to defining raw

Hyper obese Pete Member 70, 17903 posts SQ 322.5, BP 205, DL 300827.5 kgs @ 133kgs Eq | Exactly, they allow knee wraps. Very sensible in my book. I would contemplate raw myself if we did that
