OwenL said:very nice mate. Volume on bench sucks! lol how narrow is the new grip? impressive squatting Not narrow at all, I'm trying to bench like owen hubbard Everyone with a massive raw bench seems to be benching uber wide, it feels weird atm but range is so much shorter that I think its the way to get unto and past 130kg! Your training seems to be going well! is ur next comp all englands?

Last 2 sessions... Friday 10/04/15 bench, narrower grip 90kgx5x5 all reps paused Slingshot paused new comp width 100kgx6x2 chins bw+25kgx6x3 db press incline 20kgx10 25kgx10 30kgx8x2-volume is tough, but expect these to shoot up soon enough seated row 10x3 pressdowns 10x2 Sat 11/04/15 Squats 182.5x1-quick! 205kgx2-pb-felt smooth, have missed this twice last month or so, after last comp i feel so much more confident about squatting and not worrying about depth now knowing I can hit it to the strictest reffing! Mil press 65kgx8-tough 70x5-tired lol 60x5-was meant to be 75x4-but massively overestimated my ability to press for vol ha facepulls 15x3 deadlift 140kgx3x3 1 min rest between Great weeks training, had a few drinks last night but going to prep as best as I can to total 600+ in 2 weeks, this week leaves me in good steed

Wed sess- felt really sore heading into this, not 100% confident did some yoga 2 hours before that helped.. Deadlift 60x5 100x3 143x3 184x1 206x1 225x1 242kgx4-pb! was meant to be 242.5 but this was as close as i cud get with american pound plates, first 3 were great, really quick, 4th was the slowest rep I've ever done! guess its better to fast and strongest with your first rep in powerlifting Pullups 10x3 hammer curls 12.5kgx15x3- thanks paul D, arm pump if nothing else Dead hangs 2x45 secs-these are great, not too taxing

Paul_D said:Solid sensible session. Plan just linear progression with bench? Or is there a more complex 'plan' in place? Not complex, but not linear, will keep volume roughly the same, with only 2 weeks till a comp I'm not doing anything earth shatttering, just ticking over!

OwenL said:good work mate, whats the plan for competing now? Cheers owen, Im gonna do a regional in a couple of weeks times, need to total 600 so hoping that happens then. After then I'm gonna do 4 nations with bdfpa, still want to do gbpf with intention of hopefully eventually compete internationally, this was my intention but as I came second It doesn't seem as necessary to compete within the GBPF

Luuuuuukey said:Very strong lifting Luke and even stronger first name. I used to have issues with grip and in addition to simply holding a deadlift for longer as others have said, I found that high rep DB rows really helped. Using a weight that I could keep rowing for ages so my grip would become the limiting factor. Cheers mate, strong name indeed, but I think yours has more U's in it than mine :P |
