Thursday 13th October

Squats
Bar x 10
60kg x 4
110kg x 4
150kg x 2
170kg x 4

Felt comfortable enough, think il stick with 170kg reps for the foreseeable future and increase reps. Stance felt better and made sure i got to atleast paralel on each rep

Dont worry Naz, im not a fan of cardio but im thinking that short burst of cardio will help with stamina for repping events and medleys. Also could do with losing a bit (alot) of weight.

Will be at the gym Friday evening if your about? around 5ish i expect

Wednesday 12th October

Cardio

Swimming - 25m lengths
24nr lengths split into sets of 6 - 1min break between sets

Stretching in sauna & steam room for 20mins

Weighed in at 127kg this morning. Thought i would be less as belt is getting looser on trousers. Haven't been paying particular attention to diet although im going to get on top of this next week.

Tuesday 11th October

Push press
Bar x 5 x 2
40kg x 4
60kg x 2
80kg x 2
100kg x 3 - failed 4th rep
100kg x 2 - dropped bar after 2nd rep
100kg x 3
100kg x 3
100kg x 1 - just wanted to get the 12th rep

Strict log press
80kg x 4
80kg x 4
85kg x 3
85kg x 1

Was aiming for sets of 4 reps but determined to get to the 12 reps even if it involves 12 sets of singles. May drop back to 95kg push presses and go for 4 or 5 sets next week or increase sets to 5 or 6 reps.

Very happy with todays training. Alot of hitching on reps 3&4 of each set on the 230's but considering my 1 rep max was 230kg 4 months ago i dont care.

Bit of event training at Gym1, Luton

Farmers - I think each run was about 30m (15m each way)

Circus dumbell
53kg x f

Bent over barbell rows
60kg x 8
60kg x 8
60kg x 8

Session mainly involved alot of standing around chatting with James with a little training mixed in, just how its ment to be! Happy with the 120 farmers although i still hate this event. Tried the circus dumbell for the first time, could do with working technique on a lighter dumbell but elbow was hurting from yesterdays session so didnt push it. Bent over rows were done because the bar was in the way so thought id make use of it.

Just out of interest mate, I notice you mentioned that you are dieting. Are you looking to drop much weight? and is this to improve cardio? Also what does your diet look like?

Really wasnt motivated to train today and had no plan of what to do, hence the random excercise selection. Bench felt strong, bar a slight pain in my elbows again, didnt go too heavy as had no spotter.

Just seen your last deadlifting session. Haven't seen many people doing reps with 3x their bodyweight! Keep it up mate

Good stuff Matt. Strict pressing is hard for us mear mortals. I reckon high reps is the way forward though.

By the way, will possibly up your way end of Nov / beginning of Dec. Need you to cast your eye over my squat technique - its crap. Il speak to you nearer the time though

Wednesday 5th October

Had been suffering with a really tight lower back all day. Even last night it was bothering me whilst sleeping. Got better during the day but i could still feel it before the workout so did 10 mins of stretching and warming up.

Squats

150kg x 4
170kg x 2 - didnt feel right so decided to drop down and go for reps

Back was seriously pumped after this so sacked off the SLDL. I think i need to sort out my training days to allow plenty of rest.
