Deffinately mate!!! Tell me your secrets Happy

Is yours from a bicep tear aswel or just a painfull area for you?

It's a painful area for me. Tendonitis through bicep brachialis tendon, scar tissue in my anterior delt (from a dislocation and tear several years ago) flares everything from my shoulder to mid forearm up like a bas***d.

I'm not sure all this will be relevant, but some of it may help.

Foam rolling - anterior delts, full bicep and tricep and forearm extensors. This helps break down the scar tissue, and the miofascial release keeps everything moving freely, especially as the bicep shortens when lowering presses. Two - four times a week.

Sports massage and active release / trigger point therapy - for all the reasons above. Once a month cos it aint cheap Grin

Stretching and mobility work - every day without fail. Either post workout or after a shower on rest days. Shoulder dislocations really help open up the whole shoulder/bicep. Band pull aparts and face pulls with bands also help strengthen the posterior delt and balance the anterior, helping it open out and take pressure off the bicep.

Strength work - hammer curls across the body hit it just right for me, may be worth trying. Rear delt work also helps me due to the nature of mine.

Icing after lifting to keep the inflammation down. Contrast showers also help post workout.

NSAIDS - I try to minimise the drugs I take, but sometimes diclofenac and ibuprofen are needed to either get through a session or recover pain free. This is obviously not ideal!

Cissus - Started taking this on the recommendation of a few people, supposed to be good for pain relief and repair of tendon, connective tissue and muscle damage. So far since taking it my elbows have been largely fine...

Don't low bar squat with a narrow grip. It makes my biceps cry. Push yout hands out as wide as you can while maintaining a tight upper back. Also I back off the top end volume.

Knowing when to stop the session... Very important. Recognise the signs a flair up is coming and halt the session before the damage is done.

Hopefully some of this will help you mate.

Thanks for that reply mate, people taking the time to go into such detail in trying to help other guys out they havnt even met makes you realise wot a great forum sugden is!! Massively appreciated mate.

I think our injuries differ tho, come near my cep with a foam roller and blood will be spilt :-)

I certainly don't stretch/ warm up enough so need to look at that.

As for the brufen/painkillers I'm afraid I have too! Going on 20 years spent in the gym now for me, s**t hurts now. And I do ice, actually sat ere with ice on the cep now.

In all honesty I tho I think I need to tear it fully off the bone and have surgery or im just gonna keep having these small pulls everytime I push it..

Many thanks again mate for taking the time to help.

No worries mate, I may be a dick but I try to be a half decent dick lol!

If only some of it is useful and helps a bit it was worth typing it!

I don't know where you stand with such things, but there are of course supplementary regimes that help with these sort of injuries I believe.

Confused

I'm not gonna have the best of preps for this but I suppose we can all say that, every f**ker has there injuries to deal with..

Thanks mate, was stupid and worthless looking back on it.. I was codiened out of my tree, I've been down this road before of training around injuries with strong painkillers and stimulants and all it leads to is a s**t comp and depression at home.

Painkillers, brufen & stimulants are all back off the menu for me. If it means I can't train then so be it..
