i thought the fitness name was to seperate it from the heavies @ arnolds.

some good points in here. i dont think BSM needs to be any lighter but other lighter u80 comps can only be a good thing if theres interest. also 24 hour weigh ins i imagine will interest a lot more people (even im thinking about it Grin ) id also vote toward adapting the same or very similar rules as arnolds

I think as it's a new weight class bsm shouldn't be too heavy as a lighter comp would attract a larger field which would hopefully give rise to a need for qualifiers next year which means that bsm would then only have the best guys and therefore could have heavier events to keep up with the standard of the arnolds. Just my 2 cents

If a 300 yoke and 300 prowler is cardio then I'm f**ked!
And a 80 sandbag to 105 keg to 120kg loaded and then the wheelbarrow was equal to around 120 farmers I'd say .
It was definatly heavy lol

Definitely not a fitness comp then mate!

imo

80s - higher rep events (reps in range of 6-10), including medleys, maybe multiple ones in a single comp, but the smaller guys can still shift weight

90s - heavier weights, slightly less reps (3 - 5) but alot of 90s are still very mobile and enjoy a fitness side to strongman, like the loading event we had at the u90s comp last month, was a test of fitness aswell as strength

105 - more weight rep range simular to 90s but heavier, less moving events, sticking to farmers or yoke rather than long loading races

open - heavy weight, reps 1 - 3, heavy but short ranged moving events like yoke

its STRONGMAN.

IMO 1x max event. rep events won with no more than 6 ish reps. yoke, farmers etc 15-20m, or lighter weight 30-40 with drop n turn, stones 2 one height, medleys meh

So why call it strongman fitness? lol

Oh yeah, for market appeal... fair enough, confuses the issue a bit though.

What happened on the final day of the comp' anyway?

80s - higher rep events (reps in range of 6-10), including medleys, maybe multiple ones in a single comp, but the smaller guys can still shift weight + 1 that's ONE max weight event

90s - heavier weights, same set up

105 - even heavier weights

open - heaviest weights

Simple to me

my personal view is that the UK has adopted the u90's but the yankies the u80's ... obviously there is room for both here but the fields will be thinned out and i see the u90 being the domenant catagory with many more comps

all very healthy for strongman though !!
