Mark said:As above, you cannot block someone from joining the road (as long as you have a drop kerb). Nothing legally wrong with parking over an empty drive though.

Having said that, go and have a quiet word with them

I had to pay 627 pounds to get a drop curve after i Put my driveway in. If any asshole blocks it they get told!!!! No one should block it check the highway code.

That is only in special enforcement areas and where the kerb has been dropped for wheelchair access isn't it?

Nope, you can't block an entrance to a property, look below

The law basically says that you should not obstruct dropped kerbs unless you are obstructing a dropped kerb outside a house with the permission of the owner. Of course, obstructing any dropped kerb will cause inconvenience either to the owner of the property who cannot obtain access or egress from their property, or in respect of pedestrian dropped kerbs you can even cause danger to pedestrians, particularly the elderly, disabled and mothers with prams. The legislation which allows local authorities to issue Penalty Charge Notices to vehicles parked across kerbs is the Traffic Management Act 2004 and the London Local Authorities and Transport Act 2003. Parking across certain dropped kerbs is also contrary to Highway Code rule 243 which states:

DO NOT stop or park:
• where the kerb has been lowered to help wheelchair users and powered mobility vehicles;
• in front of an entrance to a property.

A decent person wouldn't block your drive, I wouldn't dream of doing it because I know from experience that it would cause a lot of s**t

If people are unreasonable ,deal with them unreasonably but multiply it sevenfold this makes people listen.

It's hard to believe that there are people who don't listen to a 24/25 stone 'monster' - even more so when the request/warning is perfectly reasonable.

See this is where the Highway Code is a pain in the ass.
What it says there is open to interpretation and would need the specific law behind it being reviewed (the HC is not law itself remember).

"Parking across certain dropped kerbs...", not all.
What constitutes an entrance to a property?

There will no doubt be a law and many restrictions based on it behind the dropped kerb part, that is where law matters and any ambiguities are recognised and dealt with.

Easiest way to find out what is right and what is wrong would be to call the police and say someone is blocking access to your drive from the road and see what they say lol
