Doing Yorkshires strongest novice on Sunday and im bricking it, it isnt helped by the fact that for the first time ever i failed the 100kg axle!!! i had only eaten a sarni all day and trained at 7.30 at night so im hoping thats the reason.#

Is this normal?

Any hints or tips?

take it easy this week mate...rest up,eat and sleep well...dont dwell to much on ur last work out...look forward to tha comp.on the day,if ur prep has been good,u will be ok...i got stage fright, and was very nervus on my first comp...once u get there, settle down talking to other competitors, tha nervs will go away...remember u wont be the only one there thats nervus,or competeing for first time...good luckWink

The first event.

When you step up and all eyes are on you your gonna be s**tting you neoprene shorts and shaking like a s**tting Dog, use that nervous energy. One rep in you'll start to calm down and enjoy yourself abit more.

Until then nothing matters

The adrenaline should be used as a positive ,its triggers your fight or flight reflex ! Enjoy it,its not real life ,its theatre!! lift some stuff meet some good lads and make sure you entertain the audience.
Good luck

Try not to sweat it. I was like that before my first comp. Take an easy week beforehand, get plenty of good food inside you then go out and enjoy yourself, because thats what it is all about when all is said and done.

Admit it, you're only nervous about competing against me! Wink

Seriously though like I said earlier and Ursus says the nerves will turn into adrenaline on the day. You'll smash it anyway...

Everyones in the same boat, my first comp i got drew to lift second up on everything which shook me up, my legs were shaking like jelly on the log press, but i did ok. After the first event the nerves will disapear.
