Trump will get another four years Member 126, 16707 posts SQ 160, BP 110, DL 225495.0 kgs @ 75kgs UnEq | dragons, st.ives u90, both filled up in a matter of hours with getting on for 50 athletes. others being turned away. north, mids and south qualifiers struggling to get over 10 athletes to compete. making the selection pool of athletes for esm u90 about 30ish deep. there is an issue here. discuss!

'I'm not coming onto you.... but' Member 1366, 1596 posts SQ 155, BP 100, DL 180435.0 kgs @ 83kgs UnEq | A specifically intermediate event (or two) for people who finish out of the top 5 in the qualifiers happening near the time of ESM?

Trump will get another four years Member 126, 16707 posts SQ 160, BP 110, DL 225495.0 kgs @ 75kgs UnEq | I mean, why is there far less people willing to do the qualifiers for the nationals?

Glorious spam Member 1563, 3961 posts SQ 180, BP 130, DL 260570.0 kgs @ 90kgs UnEq | St ives and Dragons both have light options. National stuff is generally very heavy. p4p much heavier than 105's.

Ultimately the top guys who would qualify in the end anyway still take part in the qualifiers, so its the middle and lower end guys that aren't making up the numbers. Like in the midlands comp, the top 2 as far as I am concerned would have probably qualified if there were 30 guys there, so at the end of the day its the qualifying promoter's loss having a small or "unsuccesful" comp, and not the national finals, and thus not the strongman scene's loss as a whole I don't think. Not saying the sport is dependant on the finals, but if we take the three category of comp (open, qualifier, national final), then the qualifiers are bottom of the list of importance for the best of the rest.

a champion ...from the future !! Member 1806, 3968 posts SQ 210, BP 140, DL 240590.0 kgs @ 89kgs UnEq | prob because both dragons & st ives offered a lighter option so it catered to more people, as under 90s get stronger & so the comps get heavier the qualifiers may struggle even more to get the numbers up.

Grandad Goatse Member 2494, 5035 posts SQ 120, BP 110, DL 125355.0 kgs @ 67kgs UnEq | Some of us just aren't strong enough yet to do certain events in the big comps. Doesn't mean we won't be in another years time though. But I have to admit I wouldn't want the embarrasment of not been able to move or make 1 lift on an event.

Trump will get another four years Member 126, 16707 posts SQ 160, BP 110, DL 225495.0 kgs @ 75kgs UnEq | I didnt think the qualifiers were crazy heavy this year? the heaviest was probably the northern and thats the most full. I think there are a few issues. some of which have been brought up. I just hope there can be some changes made to improve the situation. 7-8 competitors in a qualifier cant be right. and the success of these indy comps show that the potential is there!
