A very challenging session this afternoon, I simply wasn't feeling strong enough today to do the reps I wanted so cut the main set of bench press short at 6.

Bench Press
1 x 10 20 kgs
1 x 8 60 kgs
1 x 5 80 kgs
1 x 5 100 kgs
1 x 1 135 kgs
1 x 6 122.5 kgs
1 x 6 105 kgs

Military Press 3 x 8 65 kgs
Pull Ups 3 x 10 BW + 22 kgs

The original plan was to take a slight increase on the set of 8 from last week but my shoulders just weren't playing ball today. I bumped the weight up on the other exercises also, the military press felt fine but not as easy as usual. The pull ups saved this session overall as they felt very strong and easy. I sacked off the dips at the end as I didn't think they would do my already sore shoulders much good.

One of those days really, bit of rest and on to the next one! Grin

Heal up man. Looks like a pretty solid session anyway so you'll get a training effect and progress from it no doubt.
With some quality rest and food, I'm more than sure you'll nail it next week.

For a light day, that's pretty heavy there! What's up with your shoulder mate?

Cheers dude. You are absolutely right I should still get a training effect from those weights, I didn't feel confident on not failing rep 7 or 8 so I cut it short to avoid the CNS sapping effects of a failure lol. Can't win em all Grin

Unfortunately it wasn't planned as a light day, the set of 6 with 122.5 felt very hard today. Shoulders are tight and sore, but I don't think a serious injury (damn you bedroom cardio haha Grin). Ovi one of the problems with benching with a max width grip is that it is quite shoulder intensive and if they are fatigued you are scuppered. Ultimately I just wasn't strong enough on this particular day, need to make up for it next time lol.

Yeah, know what you mean about the wider grip being shoulder intensive. I did a single with your set of 6 tonight and the shoulders were already tired by then. Never damn the bedroom cardio mate - just use a different form the day before / of benching Wink

I notice that on the weekends Steph is over, I always have a good Tuesday session. Bedroom cardio makes for the best active recovery. Fact.

A nice and easy deadlift session today, I left the belt at home but it didn't matter at these weights as everything still felt very explosive.

Deadlift

1 x 5 70 kgs
1 x 3 120 kgs
1 x 3 165 kgs
1 x 3 185 kgs
1 x 3 210 kgs
3 x 3 150 kgs

RDL's 3 x 10
Assorted ab work x not sure what or how much lol

There was a good big crew in deadlifting today and a good atmosphere for lifting in. I have decided to mix things up a bit on the assistance excercises on lower body days, it was the first time I have ever done RDL's, I did them nice and strict and felt them loads in my hamstrings which was good.

The only downside from today is that my shoulders are still sore, I will see how they are doing for benching on Monday but it is very possible I am going to have to drop the weights back a bit for a while, we shall see.
