CNS science from someone that knows what they're talking about

"The entire CNS burnout thing or CNS related to lifting is nothing but broscience at this point. Until someone does a peer reviewed study on this and shows the evidence there is ZERO to support the CNS relation to lifting in terms of missing lifts or being weak being of "CNS issues".

The CNS is the brain and spinal cord. The peripheral nervous system would be more involved in lifting if one were to be involved, and more specifically, the somatic nervous system. Hell, just look it up.

The somatic nervous system (SNS) is the part of the peripheral nervous system[1] associated with the voluntary control of body movements via skeletal muscles, and with sensory reception of external stimuli (e.g., touch, hearing, and sight)[citation needed]. The SNS consists of efferent nerves responsible for stimulating muscle contraction, including all the neurons connected with skeletal muscles, skin, and sense organs"

The CNS is hidden away behind the blood brain barrier. Doing the same lift over and over again will not cause CNS burnout. The CNS doesn't give a s**t about it. If your connection there is that the somatic is part of the peripheral
which is connected to the CNS and that's how, well that's a hell of a reach.

If anyone can provide me a peer reviewed medical paper that talks about CNS burnout related to lifting in the context that lifters do, I will be more than happy to change my stance. Until then it's just something that lifters and athletes have come up with to explain away something known simply as fatigue. And you can get that sitting at a desk looking at a computer all day."

I agree. No one that seriously knows what they are talking about in this field (and that not me I may add) should be using the term CNS in relation to this topic. It is used as thats the term used. However semantics aside (even if those sementics point to something) the ability to maximally activate motor units during gross movements can be compromised via inapprpriate prolonged stress. Call it what you will.

Beyond that.. have a glass of wine

Hehem im no doctor, when i say CNS thats the way i cuse to call my nervious system and my hability to focus during a lift.

I noticed that when i feel very weak, and i feel my lifts going slow, a glass of wine or 2 with blue chese makes me feel relaxed and the next day i feel ready for action again.

Mabe is like Boar said, mabe it just help me sleep better... mabe it helps me relax the muscles and let the blood flow easyer through my muscles during sleep...

mabe is that...
