The hair: thought I'd experiment with the topknot to avoid having to flick it away from the bar every rep. Made no real difference apart from making me look even more of a cock than usual .

you looked different
nice lifting mate, will keep more of an eye on your journal now
the superheavies need to stick together against rob and his wicked ways

Thanks guys .
Kids, don't train in the cold without knee sleeves. I forgot to put mine on last night for the lemon stuff, and today it's like I have the f**king trouser gnomes playing mr stabby with my kneecaps every time I move.
Ouch.

Sunday 16th December, Sugden Centre
Back in good old Suggers for one day only. By christ it's warm.
Squat 20x5x3, 60x5x2, 100x3, 120x3, 140x3.
Not going any heavier than this without my belt, which is at Adlington. First two 140s I dug crisp and clean; last one I did a three-second pause in the hole then exploded out. Nice and confident-making.
Amazing the difference some warmth makes. Admittedly you can grip about 2" wider each side in the Sugden racks, but I was straight under the bar with no troubles.
Bench 20x20, 60x5, 80x3, 100x1, 110x1, 120x1, 130x1. First reps all long-paused.
Here there is a pause for a ten-minute conversation with a dripping Ant The Machine. Good chance he'll come along next Saturday, which is an excellent thing.
Deadlift 60x3 + 2 power cleans, 100x3, 140x1, 160x1, 185 easy but slipped, 185 immediately again easy.
Didn't bother chalking for a mere 407, had forgotten how slick the Sugden bars are.
Power clean/push press 60x2, 70x1, 80x1 all nice and crisp and not leany-back.
So that's that until Saturday, now. Incidentally, this tickover is a one-session PL total of 455 kg/1001lbs PB, which was my original total-of-PBs goal when I started logging .

Not the best day yesterday.
First, I try to get out of the building at work at about 7:20, having stayed late because we're meeting for a curry at 8 and I can't be bothered to drive into Manchester and back out again. All the exterior doors seem to be locked, so I go round to the main front entrance. Which is also locked. On a new lock I don't have the key for (I later discover none of us do, apparently deliberately, "for security"). And the door behind me has just clicked shut, and my keycard will not open it. I'm stuck in what is essentially an airlock.
So, after an entertaining five minutes I finally find a phone number for out-of-hours security (pinned up on a small poster facing OUT of the room). After another couple of minutes I find another number, that works, and am let loose.
Then I get to my car, which has had a window smashed in order to steal a supermarket carrier bag from the back seat.
Still, and this is the upside, it was full of rubbish to be thrown away .
And it was a good curry.
And now I'm on holiday.
Still, I may have some anger to channel on Saturday.

In a strangely sadistic way I was hoping you were going to say you were stuck there all night.
Rick18/12/07 @ 20:25
The door behind me wasn't that strong, mate. If I hadn't found the number when I did, it would no longer have functioned as designed .
Carl18/12/07 @ 20:37
cool, what do you teach?
i was aloso hoping you would have been stuk in there for a few hours, maybe 4, so you coulld say you have been a priosner, of sorts

I love you rick ... but there is no mental picture more comical than you trapped in a small room frantically attempting to knock down a door.
