No, it seems to be viral. After I logged off I suddenly got cold, and not even multiple layers of clothing and a fan heater trained on me could stop me shivering. That passed around 3:30am, when I suddenly woke up far too hot and had to shed two pairs of pyjamas (not entirely surprisingly, I was wrapped up like a mummy).

Today I have no symptoms other than some gastric distress - but I am s**tting frequently and liquidly, and feel bloody awful.

Very much doubt I'll be training tomorrow. Not even sure I'll be at work.

For f**k's sake.

s**t news mate. I guess the chances of catching something are pretty damn high when school starts up again after the Christmas period.

There's no problems of that sort, Jonny - but if I call in sick I have to set work for my classes which they can do without a maths teacher helping them, which is not always easy...

I think I'm on the mend. And I'm gonna keep telling myself that...

MUCH better today. As from about 3:30 this morning I've been able to fart without fear, though not without caution. Which is a bonus. I wouldn't want to put my poor tenderised ring through the test of containing myself under a heavy weight today, though.

Should be back on Sunday.

PS:

Dear God,

When I said I wanted to be "more explosive" this year, did not mean anally.

Yrs,

Dr Rick.

hope you get better soon

all the best man, you reckon you will be ready to train on sunday yet?

Grin

good news doc !!

Yeah Joni, I actually feel really good now. Still a bit sore in various places for not-surprising reasons, but I feel pretty much properly well.

You don't realise how great being well is until just after you've stopped being thoroughly uncomfortably ill.

Sunday should be fine Grin.

Still weak as milk from nasty bout of something gastric and viral last week.

Sunday 14/1

Wide Pulldowns 70x12

Bench 20x8, 60x5, 80x3, 100x1, 110x1, 120x2+f (all paused), 100x10,9+f
Got greedy here, should probably have stuck to a double.

Incline DB Press 37.5x9+f, 35x9.

Wide Pulldowns 70x8, 91x10x2. These seemed very easy, somehow.

Wide seated rows 98x10x2. Tried a different setup, suggested by Ollie, which was far better. Again, then, very easy.

10 minutes on the elliptical, stretching.

This was difficult today, mentally - I started to run out of steam after flat benching, probably not surprisingly. I only got through the rest of the workout by lying myself that I would do one more set and go home. Still not feeling anything like properly well.

I know what you mean mate, I'm just about recovered but still feel 'wrong', and suspect I will for a good few days.

Not sure about the 'weak as milk' terminology, but I could tell you looked a little under the weather still. Your hair didn't have the usual glow to it... the pony tail didn't really glint and shine when you threw your head to and fro.

Wednesday 17/1

Squat 30x5 goblet squat, 60x5, 100x5x6.

Or possibly 5x5; I wasn't utterly certain, so I decided to do the extra one. I'm pretty sure it was 6, though.

This may have been, despite the kiddy weight, the best session of squats I've ever done. It's also the first time I've ever done 5x5 with the same weight. On *any* exercise.

Form felt solid, everything felt good, depth was ample (it's not often Olly calls a squat "deep" - made me VERY happy). Narrower bar grip, medium-high bar, shoulder-width stance. My knees feel superb. Nothing hurts. The world is sexy.

DB press 20x8, 32.5x10x2. Considering how long it's been since I've done overheads, I was delighted to make the reps. It was bloody hard, though.

Narrow seated rows 70x8, 98x10x2. High seat position; comfortable, easy.

Assisted chins -15x3x3. Note to self: keep your knees BACK on the support, it's much better.

10 minutes on the elliptical, 20 stretching.

Best session for a long, long time.
