yes it will be on a sunday/saturday (probably a sunday), comps are very rarely a week day as if they were no one would turn up.

havent had a comp since the SW un-equ divisional in plymouth back in May.

thanks Iain, keep us posted

Thursday's "Purbeck" Session

Squats - round 1

  • 95K x 5
  • 125K x 3
  • 130K x 3
  • 132.5K x 2 - failed the 3rd rep
  • 132.5K x 3 - got all 3 but form was not that good on the last rep

Not happy with my squats

Deadlifts (using small diameter plates)
  • 147K x 5
  • 162.5K x 5
  • 167K x 5
  • 169.5K x 5 - ANOTHER REPS PB!!

Deadlifts are really flying, even though the last set left me shaking a little after finishing it I still felt like I wasnt totally maxed. Thats 2.5K more on the bar than last week. For me thats a massive increase. 205K single is there to be taken now for sure.

So I finish my deadlifts and am shattered, I get my stuff together and just about to leave and Paul (guy who's garage I train at) gets me to do 2 more sets of squats with a wider stance. I normally take a fairly narrow stance.

Squats - bonus round
  • 90K x 10
  • 90K x 10

Overall a mixed session, poor squats but deadlifts have never gone so well. Making the best progress on deadlifts since I started them for the first time 3yrs ago.

Walking upstairs is now somewhat of an effort. Just rammed back 1000cals+.

Anyone read Zatsiorsky and Kraemers book, its very good, been reading some of this week

    Paul

It's a good book but there are better ones with more focus on training itself. Arthur Dreschlers Weightlifting Encyclopedia is probably the best training book I've read, unreal depth of information.

aye i get that as well with my finnish name, but folk like Martin1956 make the effort to ask or find out how it is pronounced, which is cool Grin

I dont mind it though, its funny how many ways people pronounce my name!

I did my best by shouting your name loudly in support every time you lifted - I think someone must've finally told her by your last couple of lifts because she got it right by then.Tongue

To be fair to her, she was a good MC actually.

Paul Hooker phoned Paul Rees last night (Thursday) and Paul Rees says the comp is 99% finalised apparently. As Iain says 16th is looking like the date it will be.

I will be looking for 440K total or more, hopefully more like a 445K total.

Sunday's "Fitness First" Session done Monday

Due a short spell of alcohol induced "flu bug" I wasnt in the best condition to train sunday so I trained tonight (monday)

Bench - all touch and go unless stated

  • 40K x 10
  • 60K x 8
  • 80K x 5
  • 82.5K x 5
  • 82.5K x 4
  • 82.5K x 4
  • 90K x 1 (paused)
  • 92.5K x 1 (paused) FAIL

Pretty happy, strength is coming back on bench, shoulder is feeling even better this week, its now not effecting me, although I can still feel it very slightly. The 90K single felt solid, the 92.5K felt like its nearly there. I think the 92.5K will be back there within a few weeks.

DB Bent over Rows
  • 36K x 5
  • 40K x 5
  • 42K x 5
  • 42K x 5
  • 44K x 3

I also included plenty of rotar cuff work, also did some pull-ups, machine chest flies, dips, curls etc.

Paul
