why the f**k don't you stop worrying about protein, macro nutrients, supplements and s**t like that - and worry instead about muffing your Mrs, squatting triple your bodyweight for reps, getting lashed on the weekend, talking to your Mam on the phone - in short; important stuff.

You heard it here first: taking care of your diet, body composition and general health makes you an inadequate lover, weak, unable to hold your alcohol and a terrible son.

I use this recipe. Equal to most commercial bars nutritionally and about 1/5th the price. Like most protein bar recipes, it doesn't require any cooking at all.

The mix will seem really dry when you put it in the fridge, if it doesn't it will be too sloppy.

I tried making these on Friday. They were f**king disgusting.

Villa_Ste said:all im sayin is when ever you cook anything it cooks out some of its nutritional value. For example when you cook a steak it might start with 28g of protein raw but when cooked may only have 22g left.

What, dose the protein evarporate?

If you heat proteins they will denenture. They will loose some of their struture. A protein has 4 levels of struture. So they will break down from the higher stretures downwards till you get their constituant amino aoids.

In the steak example you could possibly loose a tiny amount of protein in any of the juices that leak. However this would amount to a tiny % of total mass.

Remember that as cooking will mean that water content in the item is reduced you may very well end up with more weight of protein / g than in it's raw state.

Bottom line... don't worry about it. For whey you may loose some of the factors that support the immmune fucntion but beyond that it'll do the job as regards protein and muscle growth/repaire.

As an aside we as animals are adapted to eat cooked food stuffs and the ability to cook food liberates more energy for are very energy expensive brains!

I'd give him more abuse Ste. I'd go so far as telling him that cooking carbs actually turns the carbohydrate molecules to saturated fats.

these look ok

No-bake protein oat bars
Ingredients:
2 cups dry oatmeal
4 scoops whey protein powder (vanilla or chocolate works best)
½ cup natural peanut butter
1/3 cup of water or milk

Directions:
Mix all ingredients together in a bowl, and then press into a 9-by-9 inch pan lined with wax paper. Freeze for 40 minutes and cut into bars.

Since these bars have a good amount of healthy fat, they are best used when you’re not preparing to exercise or recovering from your session, when fat should be avoided

I believe the word 'anything' will cover the aforementioned protein powders as well.

A second serving for Villa_Ste - the man with the strong words, and not so strong lifts *cough* internet warrior *cough*

Try these ; 150g oats, 130g protein powder, 220g smooth peanut butter, 170g set honey.
Micro honey and p.butter, mix with oats and protein.
Use your hands to mix it thoroughly
Flatten on tray put in fridge
Job done.
