I think the whole point of this is that it's for YOUNG+LIGHT guys (I may be wide of the mark however...)? Heavy guys get alot of chances to compete, whereas the lighter end of strongman is just starting to flourish (which I for one think Is great). I have been in correspondence with Mark about this comp and asked him If I could do it (I'm 20, so not a "teenager"), in hindsight, maybe I was wrong to do this as Mark obviously knows what he is doing and the "teenage" element may be (understandably) a vital part of his idea. At the end of the day, it's Marks idea, it's up to him what happens with this.

I think we are all aware of that.

Where would you draw the line between light and heavy though? Personally I think under 75kg is very light.

theres not many teenage comps period, never mind weight catagorie teenage comps. i vote for an open teenage comp to get the interest of more teenagers to the sport. i think if you specify a comp too much you wont get much attention.

I personally dont think 75kg is light for someone 16-19 - its just under 12st

I was about 12 stone at that age, and I was quite 'chunky' for my age

I understand your points boys all valid and sensible BUT i`ve ran all the comps i wanted to run this year .. I thought i throw on a quick comp for the light youngsters at my club who are very keen to have ago BUT not really ready yet....
I thought maybe they would be a few others knocking about the Net who would fancy a try too .. If i wanted to throw on a comp involving heavyweights aswell as the lightweights it would have to be next year ..

Train hard big boys something will come up that suits your needs - i`m sure ..

I'm 80kg at age 20 3/4, I am in no way a large fella.
If you are JC proportioned, then probably a good 20kg of those 75kg of which he speaks were in the neck.

under 75 as a teen is not light. i spent 10years competing at under 56, then under 62 and finally under 69. the next class being under 77, i could never imagine being that heavy in a millon years..

Paul is spot on with the reasons for this comp, and im positive it will be a great battle between all these ankle biters.

Agreed mate, at 16 I was 16 stone and by 19 I was 20. 12 stone is LIGHT for someone who trains!

no ITS not

75kg is small mate, my bro is 17 and 100kg, a guy I train with at uni is 85kg, but ripped to the bone and hes a powerlifter. Obviously it comes down to genetics alot, but 75kg is average weight for an adult male, if you train you should be adding muscle mass therefore over 75kg which is then classed as light.
