The global governments for decades all parties, all nations just were complacent. Marbug 1967, Lassa 1969, Ebola 1976, HIV 1981, HIV 2 1986, SIn Nombre 1993, Hendra 1994, Avian Flu 1997, Nipah 1998, West Nile 1999, SARS 2003, Swine Flu 2009. What have they done to rise to this challenge for the BIG serious global pathogen which was coming, the warning was there. Nothing, no plan, no back on PPE equipment, no medial technical equipment in the numbers required. No resource, no stand by unit, no back up. We failed as a world to take the warnings seriously and health care systems were not invested in and given the support. I would laugh but it is not funny, they say we are war but the enemy is invisible, quick, resilient and they have a lot of new kinds of hosts to hunt down. We f**ked with a parasitic microbe that is jostled, evicted, deprived of it natural habitual host and now it is looking for a new kind of host and we are it. The crisis is ecological, and the crisis is also medical. This is not an act of God but an act by mankind by f**king around with natural ecosystems and disruptions into bringing animal pathogens into human populations. This is serious for everyone and hopefully we will wake up if we get through it and learn or next time it really will be end of days and catastrophic fact. | ||

Sent me a video today of a heated argument on a local bus between a Chinese woman and Thais trying to force her to use hand lotion (Chinese woman was speaking English but few in Saraburi speak English) All you could hear was exasperated ‘kun dai na ka, dai na ka’ - ‘you can..you can’ with everyone backing away from her like she’s got Ebola.. crazy paranoia levels now. | ||

Gold went down quite a bit during the storm, then once the reality of so much QE sloshing around and stupid low interest rates kicked in, investors piled in over the next 2 years or so. Went from $700 to $1900 in that time frame. | ||

Went from $700 to $1900 in that time frame. as I understand it investors in the gold futures market are selling to cover stock market losses which is dropping the price whilst investors are buying physical metal which pops it back up again. that would explain the huge swings in price and high demand at metals dealers. if the futures market collapses and physical takes over we will be at the races with the gold price (hopefully). the gold:silver ratio is insane at the moment. if anyone can get hold over silver its cheap as chips and could be due for an immense slingshot as it catches back up with gold. https://media3.giphy.com/media/4Ql8SaaXenCxy/source.gif | ||

Also, I found a thick cut tiger loaf tucked away right at the back of a bottom shelf in a shop. People (including staff) were amazed that I'd found one and it was described as "gold dust". I did wonder if someone would try to wrestle it off me, although I would have felt confident in such a situation, even with a not-quite-fully-healed back injury. | ||
