Think he would of won a few titles had he not been in a accident. Can't remember if it was a car or motorbike or something. Can just remember watching the old videos and he was sat in hospital and had lost a serious amount of weight through been hospitalized

For me, he never looked like he was going to win it, even when he finished 3rd twice or got injured in the final!
He was never the best but got injured or was unlucky like you could say Poundstone or OD were IMO

I don't think poundstone not winning in 08 had anything to do with luck. He made an unforced error on the last stone and mariusz didn't.

OD was just well and truly shafted by the last event as it was more crossfit than Strongman.

Hugo Girrard has to be up there. spent year after year winning everything but always seemed to struggle to get through a WSM final.

I just felt he was a tad unlucky and in his prime he was one of the best as proven in the Arnold. Apart from 08 though, he never really looked like winning even though he used to breeze through his heats all the time.

Yeah OD shafted on that brick carry last event

Depends how you define "greatest". In absolute terms, Thor. But he'll win it sooner or later anyway. In relative terms (in the context of their time)... More difficult. While an obvious contender, for me Poundstone was a bit of a flash in the pan. I think consistency has to count for something. Statistically, I'd go for Riku Kiri with Terry Hollands runner up.

Poundstone won the Arnold's twice and runner up twice, that's why he's regarded as someone who should of won wsm - it just never seemed to work out for him in the final when he seemed like he was a contender and to me, was unlucky in 08. Think he's retired now which is a shame!!

I disagree that consistency counts for anything. It's like saying Arsenal should be winning the league as they are consistently 3rd/4th every year for the last 11 years without winning it!
