Am really not that far off. My pressing is pretty much strongest it's been give or take on certain exercises, my deadlift is prob 257.5ish no suit so lagging a bit (as said form is off but will fix it) and squat I just did 180 for 12 no wraps an get a good bit out out of wraps so doing ok for how long have been back lifting heavy. In couple months I should be stronger than have been before as long as no injuries. So what are your current lifts? E.g. Push press Strict press Log press Deadlift And just to clarify, actual lifts. Not 'I'm good for...' What you have actually lifted and how many reps. I'll start. I am an absolutely appalling presser at opens. As 105s I am just poor. Today I barely locked out a 115kg axle push press. I am 110kg. I have lots of excuses, but that is the truth. You?

I am an appalling presser, squatter and deadlifter at opens but if you want to know what I've lifted, search the log, all my training is in it. I don't care about what weight I use, if it's 5kg or 500kg it makes no odds. What matters is getting stronger. PB's are just bonuses.

The beauty of strongman, and strength sports in general, is that you can indeed compete more or less against yourself. I have rarely given thought to others in competing, as I'm just an irrelevance. However...you have stated that you want to get to the UK's. This means actually competing against other people. So you cannot play that card. Want the truth? I've done a UKSC qualifier. On the day I turned up the heaviest and strongest I have ever been, before or since. Far stronger than you have ever been, claim to be, or probably will be. I squatted 300, did a reasonably swift 400kg yoke, got crushed by the pressing events. Your response will no doubt be that you are more naturally inclined to the strongman events - moving, loading etc. Well, plenty of strongmen are, me included. But modern strongman is brutally heavy. And did I qualify? Did I hell. Was it a great field? Not really. The top 3 (as I recall) were a class apart, the fourth might well have been to the Arnold's but wasn't. The field you will go against will have equal, if not greater depth. You won't even qualify for the England's, let alone the UK's. None of this would matter, or even be an issue, except for the statements you make. You stated: 'Weight was 113.1kg this morning so 90's is no go. Decided to go for northern opens an try get to UK's. As said probably won't be making it this year but give it a go.' People (myself included) wouldn't get on your back so much, except that is shows a complete lack of respect for the hard work, graft, sacrifice that others put in. In short, stop it.

He will go back ice dancing or some s**t just in time to not compete, after the comp is over he will return to strongman

Member 2775, 6927 posts | When I said I probably won't get through I meant to England's, not to UK's, I'd give myself almost no chance of that and a slim chance of getting to England's. Slim chance because if the other 3 events are all good for me, that's 4 good events and I do have a couple cycles to do till then. However, if it's like previous years and you have to lift the deadlift and Viking press to score it may make no odds as deadlift is hard enough as worsed position for me and if the Viking press is 160kg as in the same as push pressing 160kg on a bar then I don't think I have any chance at all. I fully realise how high the standard is and what graft goes in.

What I don't get is why is it 90s or Opens? What's up with 105s? I mean after all, you've 'never lost strength on a cut', given your self perceived level of strength and 'a few cycles' still to go, should be a breeze......

"almost no chance" The only chance you have of going to Belfast is if Glenn Ross decides to carpet the power stairs and needs help lifting the roll from the van , your cool lifting one side yeah? - You seem to be placing a lot of faith in these cycles , all they will do is give an edge to an already sharp blade , they wont turn a butter knife into a chainsaw!

To be honest, can I not just do what I want? If my mind changes it changes, if I can't decide on something I can't decide. Also certain things arnt my decision. I'd rather just eat lots and see what muscle/strength I can put on right now than have to diet for anything so this is why I'm not thinking 105's,
