It's a tradition of Russian (Soviet) weightlifting that you do not step over the bar as a sign of respect for it.

I wasn't aware there are any Russian weightlifters posting on sugden.

Don't be a bellend. Just pointing out where the tradition originates and that force10 is not the only person in the world who observes it.

I've gotta be honest, I was always taught to walk around the bar and not step over it and to this day I tend to keep to this routine, however, I'm not that precious about it that I'd comment about it when watching someones lifts.

I was always told the same as well and now I cringe when I see someone do it even tho it makes no difference a lot of the old timers say it

I've just realized that you actually look like force10, but with long hair.

That is what I was always told and abide by. A lot of weightlifters I know follow that actually.

Don't step over the fking bar! I see far too many people doing it, but if I tried to tell everybody who did it not to, I'd be forever telling people not to do it.

Tommy - you know that a good morning is with the bar on your back, right?

Tommy, whatever you do, keep stepping over the bar. After every goddamn set. And post videos of you doing it.

It realy is disrespectfull towards the WL PL sports also strongman it show lack of self control and ametureism with the lifter doing it. Training to be the best incorporates respect.

But the chances are that most of the people who do it are not aware of disrespectful behaviour. How can we educate these people without looking a bit..... weird....?
