Whats you opinion? These guys are murderers and rapists yet they appear to be having the time of their lives?

AvatarGeorge_Winston
So you believe that prison should serve only to punish as apposed to rehabilitate people?
What would be the point of this as a lot of people will eventually leave prison?

Speaking as someone who locks people up for a living - I would rather prisoners had a reasonable time when inside rather than rioting and hurting the people who have to look after them.
Lifting weights inside is not going for a jacuzzi at the local spa - I am more than comfortable with it

nice rack pulls.

Perhaps the discipline and reward gained from lifting weights is a valuable lesson for these people.

This.

Although its a good way of venting aggression and keeping them busy, do we want stronger murderers and rapists being released?
AvatarTom_Martin
IMO, prison's most valuable use is to protect the public from criminals by keeping them separated from us.

Punishing criminals doesn't really help anyone does it.

So that being said, I don't give a f**k what they are or aren't allowed to do while in prison. As long as they're not murdering and raping me anymore, then good job!

I dont think strength really relates to either. It isnt hard to stab/shoot somebody. As for rape, your average non lifting male would overpower a female, as we unfortunately see in the news all too often, so again I dont think it makes much difference.

What "could" make a difference is treating them like scum, solitary, 1hr out their cell a day etc etc. Far more likely to cause further mental problems.

For the record, I am not defending sex offenders, would quite happily slot them all myself.

I was about to post the same thing, if a man has the desire to kill/rape then been strong has no bearing.

You could argue if they learn respect and morals from a coach/father figure that will do more good.

What would happen to sumo deadlifters in there?

You could just point blank them in the back of the head, therefore not having to worry about anything later on. Also means prisons can be turned into something else, like a school, block of flats etc.
