Most guys on here can call themselves strong, and some are even World class Strength Athletes! But when is being strong enough?

Every time I hit a PB I think about breaking the next one. I'm never satisfied with what I can lift, I'm always wanting more.

I can honestly say I will never stop trying to getting stronger (as long as I stay injury free) so when is being strong enough for you?

It's a perfection based sport and hence you're never going to be entirely satisfied in training. I'm sure most people on here are exactly the same. Hit a lift they've wanted for years and then immediately think "Meh!"

It's part of the reason I love having my log as I can see how my own perceptions have changed over the years!

Never. Even if I won the Olympics, I'd be back in the gym for the next time around trying to ge stronger/faster etc. And if there wasn't another time, I'd still be trying to always beat myself in the gym, although I reckon other things may take precedence in my life Happy

It's f**ked up!

Leading up to a pb, the level of satisfaction i expect is tremendous.

As soon as said pb is achieved, any satisfaction is gone.

When i logged 125 or squatted 220, both long time goals, a sense of disappointment almost immediately followed

when i deadlifted 250kg i was very satisfied. that was the weight i set out to achieve before i ever lifted. i still want 300kg now but if i died tomorrow i would die happy with my deadlift. my other lifts i dont really have specific numbers about which to care

I am currently a weakling but probably above average strength and surely above average is enough , in the big picture , its probably a waste of time , its a hobby !! everyone needs a hobby.

220/140/260 are numbers ive always thought sounded nice. Obviously many on here have beaten them.

I'm a way off but in no rush, and when i do get there itd probably change to 250/170/300 or so Happy

I thinking people (including myself) will say they will never be satisfied. That's what keeps us all in this game. That's why people get bitten by the bug I think.

How can you go into a gym 3 times a week and train without craving for self improvement? If I didn't crave that, I couldn't train. I certainly couldn't train just for the sake of being healthy and doing a little bit to keep in good nick.

In life you're going to have your family and your job, those things are always going be there. But the gym is something you do just for yourself, you should always make some time for the hobbies which are just for you in life.

I love just being in the gym and working out, and for a brief period of a year when I didn't I felt like s**t, didn't feel like myself.
