Yeah, i'll definately max out in squats and deads as long as my back holds up. The biggest question is...when? Coz there aint that long left. Confused

If I feel good on squats next sunday I will go for a max then. Deads..I may just leave it until just into the new year unless it feels really good on my next session Happy

Monday - rest day

Tuesday - Felt so strong today Eek

Thai boxing - got there just in time to miss the warm-up Grin Did alot of high kicks combos, and for the first time, I actually felt like there was power in my high kicks. Was working with Natalie again, she is getting to be a really good partner now, her pad holding has improved loads. Although I did manage to get a full pelt high kick straight into my neck!! - she was supposed to do a left body punch Eek Even the instructor looked surprised, but not half as much as I was, because it didn't actually hurt very much Eek It must be all the shrugs, I swear if she had kicked me two inches higher she would have broken my jaw!!

Felt really good, so decided to turn my bench formwork session into a general benching session.

30 kg warmup - 6 felt really smooth. My tendon usually tweaks on the first set, but there was no pain today (maybe because I haven't done any long drives for a bit?)
35 kg - 2
40 kg - 4, felt really easy so finally felt confident about going for 45 kg
45 kg - 1 PB!!!!!!!!! GrinGrin
40 kg - 4, 4 + 2 assisted (had a bit of an over zealous spotter for the last set, but they all felt pretty good)

Shoulder press machine
25 kg - 5
30 kg - 4, 4, 4

Chins (neutral grip) -15: 5
-10: 5
no pin: 4, 4, 4 my form is always a bit s**tty on these, I would much rather do chins off a straight bar. I may see if I can do them off the smith machine

So pleased about the bench - the 45 kg went up pretty easy, although, and this is the honest truth, I really dont know whether I paused it or not (JP, can you remember???). Still, plenty of time to do it again with a pause if I didn't anyway Grin

45kg falls at last!! Good work! Cool

All those new-fangled chinning apparatuses are absolutely s**t. I sometimes wonder what kind of wa**ers design such useless, unhelpful equipment when all you need is a bloody bar.

Well done tonight Jo - it's great that you've finally broken that mental barrier.

Update that total!

Couldn't agree more. I hate chinning on anything other than a straight bar.

Wednesday - supposed to be heavy deads, but as I want to squat heavy sunday it became a totally unplanned session. Pretty productive though.

10 mins xtrainer warm up

Push press (was a bit sore from yesterday so kept these pretty light, although they are never light if my form is not right!!!!)
20 kg warm up with half strict and half push press
25 kg: 3
30 kg: 3, 3, 1
35 kg: 2

Then got some really useful form input off tokar so built back up from 20 kg to 30kg to 35 kg again. Have to narrow my stance and not dip so deep to get the leg drive.

Deads off plates for form
60 kg: 5
80 kg: 2, 2, 3, 2 all felt easy, think my form was pretty good with these

Rows on machine 28 kg: 6
35 kg: 6
35kg + half block: 6 then 6, 6, with vertical handles (much easier)

Lat pulls 28 kg: 10
35 kg: 6, 6 (Not much rest between sets of rows and pulls)

Shrugs
70 kg: 10
90 kg: 12, 12
70 kg: 20

Rowing for CV.....oh my, where has all my endurance gone Eek
20 mins - 4062 meters.....had to stop twice!!

Stretching

My lack of CV endurance showed itself again at tonights thursday M15 muay thai class. I was proper f**ked Grin It may have partly been because I was struggling to eat today - i think i got the calories in in the end, I just don't think I digested them very well Confused It's the first time that this class has been a fitness class, rather than a technique class and it consisted of 4 different circuits with varying stations from shadow boxing, clinch knees and working with the puchbag. But it was still a good class - Phil, as ever, is a great instructor...i'm hoping to get a private off him next tuesday as the G-camp classes will have stopped then and i'm off on holidays wednesday Grin

My right shin is a state! but I know the conditioning is a good thing. Grin

G-Camp - last class before Christmas. Hell I'm sore today, but there was no way I was missing this class. Lots of kick combos, with some timing practice with the pad holder attacking and the other striking. My low kicks are pretty good now, if a little slow still, and body kicks are good if im not too tired. But the rest was weak powerwise. Still there is Christmas week to recharge Happy

Was a bit lost what to do in the gym so just did some tricep based stuff (the only bit that wasn't sore) and lat work.

4 Boards - These are so so easy compared to two boards!

warmup with 30 kg
40 kg: 10
45 kg: 8
50 kg: 3, 3

Tricep pushdowns (im not a bodybuilder, honest)
25 kg: 8
30 kg: 10
35 kg: 5
32.5kg: 8, 8

Dumbell rows
15 kg: 8
17.5 kg: 8
20 kg: 8

Lots of stretching and laughing at Rob getting wet Grin

Saturday - Rest

Squat Day

Felt a bit rough due to lack of sleep, but went ahead with squatting to see how I felt.

20 kg: 5, 5 feeling pretty stiff
30 kg: 3
40 kg: 3, 3
50 kg: 1
57.5 kg: 1
62.5 kg: 1 (easy)
67.5 kg: 1 F - Failed, but knew it was just a stupid confidence/form thing so tried it again and got it with a fight against folding forward (PB)
70 kg: 1 Really easy Eek it just flew NEW PB!!! GrinGrin
75 kg: f, f - stupid fail the first time, again, just folded, then the second I was all out of ooomph. Know I can get this easy if I can hold my form together

Legpress - 88 for 2x5 felt hard, 106 was a fail (I have done 124kg Eek recently) so figured squatting had taken more out of me than I realised so decided to pretty much call it a day.

Ab Pulldowns
28 kg: 10
35kg: 3x10

Hyperextensions with 5 kg plate

Pleased with the squatting, know there is way more in there yet Grin

Got my exciting 0.25kg and 0.5kg microplates today too Grin

Really good stuff yesterday Jo - a pretty good week with two new PBs. Plenty more to come in the near future too I suspect. Well done!

I still can't believe that 70 was a PB. It looked, and apparently felt, like an empty bar. Just shows how much more you've got to come when you manage to consistently stay a bit more upright and keep that left knee out.

Seriously impressive lifting, Jo. Outstanding.

I did chasten Jo for not reminding me to take Sugden TV on Sunday - it also transpires that she is a little camera shy! We will get a PB video soon hopefully.

Thanks for the comments, i'm still pretty pleased training finally seems to be on the way up - although no-one at work was even slightly intrested. Damn general public - why don't they understand the importance of lifting Tongue!

Eek

A video maybe of something that isn't a 1 rep max - I struggle to hold it together for them at the best of times! Grin
