I've watched it all. I have loved the Basque tour for years and being friends with a couple of guys from the area, I have a soft spot for Euskatel. There has been some great, cagey racing this year in atrocious conditions. All the people pissing and moaning about how Sky ride seem to have ridiculously romanticised versions of what road racing should be. Heroic 200km breakaways or attacks from 2 cols from the finish are epic, but the world doesn't work like that. I'm not a particular fan of Sky ( I'm not anti, either), but if you have a team who can ride tempo all day and pilot their main GC hope to a few kms from the finish, then that's what you do.

I must be one of the few cycling fans who actually quite enjoy watching the sky train in full flow. Whilst I admit it's not got the flare of the cycling that I love, watching the worlds best riders get shredded by the unrelenting pace is fun.

It'd be my ideal race if they do it in the Tour enough to get stacked selections and then watching Froome and Porte battle it out with Contador, Purito, Valverde et al. I'm looking forward to the GTs more this year than in a long long time.

That's sounds like a very good race to watch, I hope all the top guys are on form so we get to see the sky guys getting pushed to the limit.

Was a tad chaotic. If it's a sign of the excitement to come then I'm not going to complain...

In other news, I ticked over my 5000th mile in 2013 this morning. Bang on target for 10k in the year.

Not into cycling at all .. Don't care for it one bit !

But Lance Armstrong was in the Mirror news paper today claiming its impossible to win the Tour de France without doping ..

Lance got banned and all the Bradley Wiggins etc instantly came out shooting Lance and making it very clear they are absolutely anti drugs etc etc

It's all a bit f**king circus like for me ...

My TPs Kev and Trav love Lance he's a motivational person they use to fuel they're training, they watch all his vids and read all his books - i can't do with the t**t ..

I seem to need to draw my own personal motivation from different places to them . Each to their own of course , they're not wrong and I'm not right .

Fun cycling fact:

"During the 1913 Tour de France, riders could have no outside help repairing their bicycles. The race leader at one point had his front fork break, so he trekked 10 km to a blacksmith where he repaired them himself. He was penalized 3 minutes for allowing a child to work the bellows."

Guardian - There's unlucky ... and then there's Christophe

Couldn't believe panzerwagen even started today after what happened yesterday. I love that man.

People who know about cycling: which channel has the better commentary and analysis? I'm watching itv4 because before I moved in here it was all I had, but if eurosport's better I'll switch.
