Any comp plans for rest of the year? Training looms good squat and bench. How's the dead?

Hello MR K, everything is pretty rosy on my side mate Happy

I'll be competing next year for sure (maybe even the back of of this year depending on how things fall).

Squat and bench are both flying at the moment, I'm hopeful of some big lifts to come fairly soon!

Deads - Now I've stopped changing techniques every ten days I'm starting to feel dallied in again.

I'm deliberately keeping deads light at the moment as I need to keep drilling perfect tech (too much sumo recently left my conv pull a bit erratic), but I suspect that I'm good to 260ish - Not great, but not that bad either.
Hopefully I can start ramping the weight up on my next training cycle once my tech has settled in properly.

Monday 19th October 2015 - Component Bench / Assistance @ Middlewood

Training with Padawan Jon

Week 8 - Component Bench

Bench With Chains (50kg at the top)
  • 20kg x 10
  • 20kg x 10
  • 60kg x 10
  • 80kg x 5
  • 80kg x 5
  • 95kg x 1

  • 110kg x 5 @ RPE8 (Actually RPE10)
  • 105kg x 5 @ RPE 8
  • 105kg x 5 @ RPE 8

The first set was a proper shock and I only just got 5 reps. I couldn't work out why it felt so heavy until I realised that I had left the chains in their deadlift configuration, meaning that a most of the chains were not in contact with the floor and the top of the press making it 5-10kg heavier and a lot more unstable.
I rectified this for the remaining sets and everything felt better, but I never really recovered fully from the max effort first set.

Close Grip Bench Press
  • 125kg x 5
  • 125kg x 5
  • 125kg x 5

Clapping Press Up
  • bw x 8
  • bw x 8
  • bw x 8
Thick Bar Curls
  • 40kg x 8
  • 40kg x 8
Pull Ups
  • 18.75kg x 8
  • 18.75kg x 8
  • bw x 10
DB Preacher Curls
  • 12.5kg 6
  • 12.5kg x 6
Hammer Curls
  • 16kg x 8
  • 16kg x 8

Tough stuff tonight.
f**king up the chain setup didn't help, but I think I was still a bit fatigued from yesterday's session as well.

Hopefully we will have a good showing on Wednesday Cool

Wednesday 21st October 2015 - Classic Squats and Component Deads @ Middlewood

  • 190kg x 1
  • 210kg x 1
  • 230kg x 1

  • 250.5kg x 2

Squats were stupidly easy, however I knocked the f**k out to the racks when walking the bar out and very nearly fell over (I had some Ricky Martin hip action going on for a few seconds whilst saving it Grin)

  • 60kg x 10 (DOH)
  • 100kg x 5 (DOH)
  • 140kg x 3 (DOH)

  • 150kg x 6

Dimel Deadlifts
  • 115kg x 8

  • 115kg x 8

Weighted Chins
  • 7.5kg x 8 (wide grip)

  • 7.5kg x 8 (Narrow Grip)

Tired after that - Late finish (due to a late start) so I need to slam some food in and then sleep......

250 x 2 stupidly easy?

Where do you recon your squat is at the moment? And when are you back on the platform?
