Bill Starr recommended them in Strongest Shall Survive, along with hamstring curls, but can't remember the reasoning and lost the book!

I do them to warm up the knees and get blood into the thighs etc...

Then smash them once I've got the front squats and leg presses out of the way Wink

Just feels good and you know you want the pump Grin

Unless you're going very slow with light weight for the burn, they're going to be very stressful on the knees.

Do it for the pump or not at all. Don't go heavy.

Interestingly, back when I did them, I never found this - perhaps the design of the machine may be a factor?

I've seen videos of Ed Coan saying he did them weekly.

Whether he was given money/ a script by BodybuildHugeQuadsCreatineFreeProMagazine I'm not sure.

The top exercises at my gym

1. Squat rack curls
2. 6 inch knee bends on the leg press
3. 3 man bench press
4. pec deck
5. leg extensions/leg curls.

I found that Leg extensions are good for knee recovery and i like the way the bought out my eyes... but way way way a poor substitute for sissy or front squats.

I only ever do them light for reps.

The only exercise that has ever pissed off my knees.

You shouldn't need to worry about working legs.

Wear a top 2 sizes too small and baggy bottoms.

Why work legs, when you can do a day of extra chest and arms??
