Missed out on squats and a lot of the fun stuff with being ill last week so glad to get back at it.
Squat felt very powerful so kicked the weight up a bit for a PB. Not brave enough to risk injuring the leg before comp season but look forward to getting 300 on the bar once the season is over.

Eased off a little today as i had a long day yesterday and got woken up about 1.30am today because my son wanted to run laps around the upstairs.
Hoping for an early night tonight and so should be back on track tomorrow.

All about the squat PB tonight. Plan had been to work up to 275, but managing the 265 beltless convinced me to push a little further.
Finished off with some grip work. Baffled by how easy the final set was. All feeling good.

Fun little session. Heavy pulls were harder than id like but as I'd not been over about 315 this year until last week and I've been training for reps i can live with it.
Got a session on a regular size log tomorrow so hopefully put something half decent up.

Just feeling out a normal size log. Technique still all over the place, some reps it felt like 160 was there, others I'd have struggled to lock out 140. Toying with trying push jerk this week and perhaps using that at Northerns.

13/4 - Northerns

Max log

A very ugly 140. Thankfully everyone struggled on the ridiculous soft rubber platform and only 4 or 5 guys managed more.
Joint 6th ish.

300kg deadlift

Again people appeared to be struggling with the platform and the limited warm ups. Put in 8 reps in about 45s and called it. No one got close with 4 guys tying on 6 for 2nd.
1st.

320kg frame x 30m

Last up on this so I'd seen what everyone else did. Only a few had finished and only 1 in a good time. Tried to slide for the line but got my guess wrong and the frame dug in under the tarmac so I had to wrestle it across the line.
2nd place, about 34s.

380kg yoke x 30m

Again id seen what everyone had done here. Only Oldfield had put in a solid performance. I had one stumble on the first 15 then eased off slightly on the way back to stay safe.
2nd place, 25s.

Car hold

Horrid thick handled frame made this feel a lot heavier than 300 in the hands. Very few had over 32s. I understood why as soon as i started and didn't bother chasing the leader who was 10s clear of the next man.
34s, 3rd place.

By this point i was half a point off 1st and 7 points clear of 3rd so only needed a quick 3 to secure my target of an Englands spot. That said I've worked hard on stones this year and wanted to see where they were ahead of Englands.

Stones, 110 - 175

Most were struggling with the 160 and only a couple had finished all 5 (including Oldfield who secured his spot with a blisteringly quick run). Breezed the first 4, quick re-tacky then a fairly comfy load of the final stone.
2nd place, 33 seconds.

1st overall.
Worked harder than I'd intended, but just playing for top 3 didn't sit right once i got started. Still managed to keep a little in the tank so now it's back to the peaking to get ready for Englands. 2 bad events for me means it will be a hard day, but if the next few weeks go well i think i can fight for that podium.

Strongest man in the north of England sounds alright to me, Kev!

Well done pal. Sounds like a solid performance.
