Fun return to the log today. Planned to do a lot more volume on the push press, but honestly the first set felt heavy so I lost my bottle. After a few doubles things got very easy though so I kicked on a bit. The PB is 1kg heavier than my previous 1rm on the monster log so it's a good starting point for max log at Northerns.

Another comfortable PB, very surprising at this point in the year.

Session as a whole felt pretty good, though obviously held back on front squats to be fresh for the big stone.

Just a cheap PB tonight.
The final set of strict press was actually a bit tricky, getting a lot of wobble on the bar, need to work on keeping a straight bar path.

Felt a little better today, but still a bit run down (I blame work being bonkers) so dropped a fair bit of volume from tonight.
Things feeling pretty good, just getting familiar with the log again.
I did notice my elbows dropping on the 1st set of push press, need to focus on not letting that happen.

Just working speed on the stones today, focus on getting that pop off the chest. Stone run at Northerns is quite light so I'll need to be able to throw the lighter ones around real quick to be competitive.

Everything appears to be in pretty good order. 4 weeks of mostly bbing volume fun to come, then time to knuckle down and start pushing.

Got trafficked on the way home so had to rush tonight's session. Reduced the breaks and dropped a few of the build up sets. Full session was done in 20 mins - PB.
145 was right on the limit, particularly as I let my elbows drop when I started my leg drive. Managed to grind it up though so I'm fairly happy. Unlike most of the PBs I've hit lately there is nothing at all cheap about this one.
The biggest difference is how easy I'm finding it to clean the big log, always really struggled with that before.

Ditched stones today as I plan to hit them with events on Sunday.
Rest was a bit limited, too cold to actually sit still for long so had to keep moving. Hit a few dynamic stretches and banded exercises between working sets.
Hit some biceps and forearm work afterwards because I had a little time to kill, and: guns.

Kettlebell side laterals/wide grip chins/axle btn press - 3 trisets.


Finished off with a little stretching, things feeling a bit tight after events.
First session of a new phase and it wasn't fun. Very out of practice with repping and training with a pump. Sure it will come back soon enough, and maybe I can add a little more size across my shoulders.
