I said a while back I could see Mr Bim going faster, I did not think it would be so soon.

Now we have slender man with his horse lungs capable of smashing 5k upwards

Also hes bald enough but not old enough smashing the 100m

2020sugdens year of the rower

It feels quite reminiscent of starting road cycling when I was 13. I remember starting my first training rides and averaging 15-16mph on my Claud Butler road bike, but within 18-24 months I was up to averaging 21-25mph over the same distances and courses.

I think it'll just be a case of practice and building my fitness up. I really am very unfit at the moment! Grin

I'm quite encouraged that I still had enough in the tank for a 1:35 final 500m, but maybe it just means that I paced it completely wrong!

I'll do another 5000m row next week and see if I can get it under 18 min. If I hold a 1:48 pace for the first 4500m and 1:35 for the final 500m, that would translate to 17:47.

I appreciate the encouragement on this chaps - it's nice to do something that gets my competitive juices going.

Mate you defo have huge potential. If I were you I’d be getting a coach like Eddie Fletcher. You could do massive things on the erg.

Best of luck with it.

Keep doing that, knowing that as long as you can manage a 1:35 last 500 it means you could have gone a bit faster on the preceding 4500. You'll be sub 17:30 in no time.
Once you no longer have a mega sprint finish in you, the real work begins. But I suspect you'll be nearer 17:00 by then.

How far off your PBs are you currently?

Are any of them in danger?

Last year I managed to get within 90-95% of most of my lifetime PBs after a solid 5 months of focused training. Right this moment I'm probably closer to 80-85%. Improving my 2k would be a big challenge, improving my 500m/100m seems unlikely unless I bulk back up to 100+.

A few are soft and I could beat them if I set my mind to it (30', 60', HM). Improving my marathon and 100km would just be a matter of sitting down and doing it, which I'd rather not. Grin

I'm hoping that when I see my coach he can point out something obvious I'm doing badly wrong and I get good gainz. Other than that I'll get settled at the bottom of the lists. It's all very exciting Grin

To climb the mountain, you must first step foot on it.

100m - 15.4, including a most unceremonious dismount onto the rail with my arse on the final pull.

I would like to make my case that I ought to be ahead of the other 15.4 pullers in order to spur them onto go faster than me Grin

Edit: love the update Grin

Nice!

Set the footrests a notch higher for sprints, it helps keep the leg drive horizontal.
