Don't look too bad. Looks too light though to tell properly. Looks like you're using your arms too much and just pressing it real fast, whilst splitting your legs.

Arms need to be relaxed, it's all in the legs until you have to just catch the weight with locked arms.

Next session i'll go heavier and film it so its more clear what i'm actually doing.

Right got you, i'm still getting to grips with the actual grip of it too, puts your wrists in such a weird position!

I agree with Owen - you're punching it up with your arms and most definitely not dipping. After you've caught it, the bar doesn't rise any higher.

If you watch closely, the top guys drop under the bar, then do an overhead lunge with the bar. I try to get the bar to land in my hands as close to where it is before the jerk, so where my clavicles were before I dip under the bar. Having said that, I'm not a top oly lifter - I was pretty pants at best.

Reza's WR with 263.5kg is about the same as lighter guys with 200kg. Technique is almost identical.

Relax your back leg, practice from a split position dropping your hips straight down.

Other than that make sure you don't need to sneeze before you jerk, this happened to me today and I can tell you it wasnt pleasant.

Good stuff mate, put some weight on. Do your "stand there and think" with your lightest weights only. If you stand there for 5-6 seconds thinking things out with a heavy weight you will probably have difficulty.

Looks good and positive.

Lifters are usually encouraged to recover the front foot first if possible.

I agree with Steve and smalls there. I jerk best when I get out of a clean, take a breath then jerk it ASAP. Same for jerkin out the rack, get it done! Happy

Nothing to worry about there

Keep practicing... You more you do them the more you'll learn

The movement looks fine for a beginner to work from, we all start somewhere

Your starting position and use of legs is promising

Not much wrong with those, I've seen a lot worse on the competitive platform.

Just do more of them and they will improve, you've got a decent starting point there from which to work.

You mean you've watched me lift yet never introduced yourself!!!! Eek Grin

I agree with everyone! They look very good, especially for a first attempt but a vid of heavier lifts would potentially show where the errors would start to creep in. Happy

Did you not video your heavier ones brah?

To my untrained eye, they looked very like those in that vidya.

Thabnks guys, really good advice here, I'll post an update video with heavier weight/more dipping down + Catching.

On a side note my right knee is a wee bit sore, anybody get this?
