Paul_D | Best/Most Credible Drug Free Powerlifting organisation? | 04-10-2018 @ 12:40
Hey mate, my name is Paul Dudley Member 632, 3628 posts SQ 200, BP 155, DL 282.5637.5 kgs @ 77kgs UnEq | Hi, Long time no post. Hope everyone is good. Just a quick question (and easier than me doing my own independent ‘google research’); What are the options for Drug Free powerlifting nowadays? Still GBPF & BDFPA? I’m looking at getting back into competing in some fashion and would like to see where the cool kids (you guys) recommend. Thanks in advance.

GBPF is probably the highest level of competition with BDFPA being the lowest. You've also got now the ABPU which is the tested side of the BPU. Which would be my personal choice. Better atmosphere, more fun, tested and untested lifters can lift together (which is helpful if you have training partners/friends who are untested) and still a good standard of lifting.

GBPF obviously has single ply and then their raw division is knee sleeves on squat. ABPU has a bare knees division and classic raw (raw with wraps. You can wear knee sleeves but you'd be in the wrapped class.

‘downsizing’ Member 5704, 3226 posts SQ 280, BP 210, DL 320810.0 kgs @ 96.3kgs UnEq | most credible (in terms of talent depth ) tested fed by far is the GBPF. ABPU is also good as it allows a platform to compete with everyone regardless of drug use as a drug free lifter.

I am a bench-only guy Member 3, 10035 posts SQ 185, BP 175, DL 235595.0 kgs @ 140kgs UnEq Administrator | There is the IPF, and there is everything else. You're going to get the best depth of talent, the only credible (WADA) testing, and far more comps. Obviously opinions will vary, but this is mine. However - if you're at a decent club, you should lift where the good lifters there lift. If you're not, you should change that.

what is everyone's fran time?
