2/7/7

4" Board - worked up to 125 but shoulder got too sore

Yates Rows - 100/8, 100/8, 100/8

DB Rows - 90lb/15, 90/15, 90/12

CG Tricep Pushdown - 80/10, 80/10

DB Nose Breakers - 30lb/5, 30/7

Tricep Pushdown - 50/6, 50/6

Well my good run of training has finally ground to a halt. Got injured. Supraspinatus impingement in the left shoulder. I've had it before, the treatment is simple: no overhead or pushing type excersises...problem is I work as a decorator and Im meant to bench twice a week. It gets more aggrovated at work than in the gym really. Just gonna do a ton of back and tricep work in the gym and avoid chest and shoulders and hope it gets better soon.

To get back to Clive Henry: 440kg is only 17.5kg off the IPF SHW record of 457.5kg, held by Shane Hamman - any chance of Clive going for this do we think?

i think its more likely Clive will go for the 455 at 125 bud. He is rarely much over 125 anyway.

Sure, but if he can do 455 @ 125 he could put on a few kilos (or less) and go all out for the all time record as well. Jim, what do you think?

im not sure where he's got room to put on many more kilos to be honest bud! I think he just thinks hes more competetive at 125

well they're great if you're quads are your weak point, i.e. you fail your full sq's 2/3 to 3/4 of the way up

Squats (half suit, Light wraps)

65x6,115x4,155x4,195x4

Was getting cold, got pissed off and left the gym, That workout took almost 3hrs like most of my workouts, which is fooked up given the low volume I usually do but this is what happen when you have 8 people of different levels sharing the same platform, too busy chatting, drinking beer and having cigarette breaks during training! Whist it can be nice training with a team, I'm going it alone from now on.

yeah that sucks mate, even when theres a lot training with my team (8+ often) we still get through at least 3 heavy sets of Sq and DL each (plus warm ups) in about 2.5hrs...

Joni mate, the hardest part of equipped lifting is getting your head around the numbers, unracking them is the next hardest and then lifting comes in 3rd.

Best post i have read in ages Boar.

Solid session today. Technique didn't really really click benching. Not 'clean' enough reps, but got the work done. A little bit of tricep work with narrow grip lockouts then decided to have a bit of fun with lockouts with a comp grip. This means a very small ROM (approx 4"). Made sure to hold at lockout for a count of 5 and lower slowly to get the most out of it but the transfer to my bench is low. But its nice on occasion to press out a supra-max weight of the pins.

I do 5" ROM lockouts week in week out Ian. Its part of the Metal Militia training style. If you lift in a shirt i definately reckon it helps. I do triples with weights which are very supra max to my raw bench, but around the same as my max single shirt bench. I stupidly do em on a rediculously dangerous heath robinson contraption which involves an incline bench machine, some boards and plates, and more weight than i can safely handle with no spotters or catch pins Grin

Joni - yeah Lat strength is important in getting your bench moving too. My internal/external rotation balance is pretty f**ked up but posturally my shoulders arnt actually too bad at the moment.

Thing - yeah sure, I think upper back work will help your deadlift so long as your weak point is the last 1/4 of the lift...always good to have a big shelf to sit the bar on with squatting too.

Ice - a lack of upper back assistance obviously aint holding your pull back much then Wink

Id LOVE to do a ton more back work, I enjoy working it...Its just that time and energy wise theres not much space in my program for it.
