I have the Odins and rate them very highly, so much so I recently convinced my training partner to invest in a pair. I cant recommend them strongly enough.

I loved mine, great day, chance to meet folk with a similar interest, and a load of laughs. I cant wait for the next one.

With a 300 dead your looking at this comp lol

Lol, indeed, sadly that never seems to help, theres a distinct lack of max lifts in novice comps, and my inability to move or press things overhead really hampers me.

Im not supposed to be competing the back half of this year, but this looks like it could be an entertaining contest, and its my birthday that weekend so I may well have a crack at it.

Be interesting to see if Lalas going early on the yoke got him the win.

Glad to see I wasn't the only one who found his timing a bit questionable.

But it didn't change the result, Lalas was phenomenally strong, his deadlift was ridiculous, like a bloody metronome. Not unlike Hixxy on the log press.

be pointless because it wouldnt be getting moved!

Wow, i'm as strong as hixxy, i can not lift a 210 axle as well!

Quality pressing, so easy off the chest.

Looks like youve upgraded to the Odin sleeves as well, a fine choice (even for those of us who dont get them free of charge Wink )

I'm a big fan of a mid-sleep feed, HOWEVER, using an alarm to do it is counter productive, the damage to your sleep cycle causes more harm than the benefit of the extra kcals. The 'best' (read as - my way) is to have a decent sized drink before bed, and then drink the shake when you wake up for the toilet during the night.

Most folk wake up for the toilet anyway, so no additional harm is done to your sleep cycle, and it takes about 30 seconds to down a shake, so doesn't require you being awake a great deal longer. Indeed, as a woman it may be your other half can drink her shake whilst using the toilet, a skill I've never mastered.

Talk to me/be in the gym at the same time as me.

Both of these I find intolerably rude, and kind of wish they'd find a new gym.

Awesome repping
» How often do you 'Max out'?? (Go to post)14-05-2014 @ 18:08
Assuming we're defining 'max out' as try a new 1rm, then it varies, but perhaps averages once a month. I often squat up to a daily max, but that's not the same thing.

I'm looking to drastically increase my overhead max, so wont try a new 1rm overhead until I think I can do that 150kg press, which is several months away.

Deadlift maxes are very rare, I did 3 in the space of about 5 weeks while trying to prove I could do a 300kg pull, but I wont be trying to better that for a long while.

Good man.

I'd try to get one events session in after your exams to try a few of them, but after that just relax. After all, I don't expect many people in a novice comp will have practiced truck pulling Happy
» wtf is a back bench press (Go to post)12-05-2014 @ 18:01
Fazc said:If it's translated it could originally have been called 'Supine Press' or something, which might roughly be translated as the Bench Press we all know and love.

I'm thinking you are on the right lines, though I suspect it should actually be the reverse bench, since it comes after bench press in the routine it needs to be a separate exercise, and reverse press seems the most likely to have gotten mixed up in translation.
