^^^ This is true, Loz's group doesn't have squat, so they'd both need to make the final to see them squat it out. And Loz would win, Felix has never been a great squatter, and much as I like Felix its hard to see him having improved enough to challenge Loz even if he isn't back to 100%

Hixxy needs a good fingals !?!

The other guys have a bit of work to do !

Hixxy has a bloody hard group, but with a couple of 3rd place guys also making the final I'm thinking his chances are still good.

As for other guys having work to do, Big Terry is in fine shape, he barely even broke a sweat in his loading race, and won his truck pull. Its not uncommon for him to hold back for the finals. Terry will do enough to qualify and not much more, its the final where we'll get the chance to see how good he is this year.

Ok, got the events for Loz' group from his FB. he's got:

Loading race,
Vehicle pull,
Deadlift for reps,
Superyoke,
Viking press,
Stones.

A lot of moving there, be interesting to see if his weight loss helps. Going to be very close between him and Solvang. Loz should take superyoke and deadlift, Solvang is a great presser and insane at truck pulling, leaves stones and loading race to decide it. At his best I'd favour Loz, but he's going to have to bring his A game.

Wow, you are a broad looking 80kg!

Very solid pressing, a little more in the tank from the looks of that and sleeveless to boot! Great stuff.

G1 - Burke, Hollands, Scheun, Rein, Rodrigues, Brant
G2 - Carron, Kelsey, Oberst, Ostlund, Thor, Kobylarz
G3 - Caruso, Nami, Hall, Pritchett, Savatinov, Szymanski
G4 - Best, Felix, Roux, Savickas, Shahlei, Solvang
G5 - Cummine, Hicks, Shaw, Shivlykov, Van Staden, Wildauer

G1 - Hollands and Burke, big fan of Scheun, but think he'll have his work cut out in that group.
G2 - I'll say Thor and Oberst, but its a bloody tough group so wouldn't like to think I had to bet the mortgage on who'll take 2nd.
G3 - I really don't know, Ed and Pritchett probably, but Nami could crash the party.
G4 - Z and Loz, though I think its probably the toughest group this year, depending on the qualifying events this group gets Loz may really be struggling given his weight loss and limited time to recover from last years squat mishap.
G5 - Shaw and Shivlykov. I'd love to see Hix get it, but the beret beast was amazing at the Arnolds and I think he'll sneak it, though don't see there being much between 2nd and 4th.

samevans said:Anyone can enter. People will generally be very supportive to anyone competing regardless of ability. This only begins to change once you get to comps you have to qualify for. However in my experience people are always supportive.

doing the above would not be seen as the doing done thing tho.

This pretty much covers it for me. He would be allowed, and supported, you would be regarded pretty poorly for your role in such a thing however.

It's not the actual axle it's the fact that it's fixed so it wants to roll off your back when you go down.

I don't really think one is harder than the other. its simply that the Axle squat is different, if practiced its no harder in my opinion. Though I suspect if you generally squat low bar axle could indeed become a horrid piece of apparatus to balance/control.

Glad we finally know exactly what the squat is. Thanks Terry!

I can see a few guys getting 10+ with that weight, top 3 of Lalas, Z and Ed.
Though I suspect everyone who gets to the final to be good for 5+ reps at that weight, so potential for a lot of people to take points away from some of the overall favourites.

Wow, reading this thread really makes me appreciate my gyms! Cant remember the last time anything like this happened, the worst thing I ever have to see is people doing half rep squats, or 3 inch leg presses.

Id seen the deadlift before. But that axle C + P is just mind boggling, the press was just insanely easy.
